Cheetah Rally Vids

RKelly and I had another hit yesterday so here is the video for those interested. I'm in the far court.

Almost back to being healthy. Upper body is loose but legs are taking their sweet time.
Watching these vids makes me realize my backhand (among other things) needs a lot of work. I'm on it...

That was the first thing I noticed, too. It's good hitting... but I quit after five minutes. I basically got tired of seeing RKelley lunges, mis-hits, netted balls, and saying "sorry" due to a mis-feed.

Cheetah -- just edit out the rest breaks and picking up balls. There's no need to edit anything else out. These videos you post really make RKelley look like crap. You might be better than RKelley... or you guys might be fairly evenly skilled... but you can't determine any of that from these videos you post.

Yea it's crap now. I don't know when that happened. i hate looking at it. That and the 1hbh is my focus next week. I used to drive through it. Maybe it's because I can't figure out how to switch to the right bh grip yet as it stills goes to the more extreme grip. I see a lot of my slices are in that grip too. I'll have it fixed in a week or two.

thanks for the video but i gotta admit it's really a one sided rally.

your buddy struggles to have a solid rally with you, barely giving you any groove and not demanding any real effort form you.
and after 3 shots you just blow a winner, with him not even trying to stop it.
it's like you practice a ball machine.

it will be a lot more educational and interesting if:
you'll have a partner with a level closer to you,
or at least a real match, seeing you deal with more real time situations.

oh well.

backhand... the slice is slightly off balance and too much chopping.

the bigger problem is the drive. there is a flaw in it and therefore it will not be able to handle balls higher than waist, and it leaks when you have to deal with a fast ball.

FH is nice... although a bit jammed on occasion.

cheetah is playing against a very high-level player today, sort of a semi-pro. There will be rallying as well as point-playing after serves to simulate match situations. Wait for the video.

Yeah, nice FH, but (from what I've seen), I've noticed that your BH is lagging (only some slices and no real good "driving through it" like you said).

You obviously have a good forehand, but when you tuck in your left arm, it hangs downward rather than up near your waist or chest.

I think if you tucked it in higher it would help prevent over-rotation...which would give your forehand even more power with less effort since the left arm would stop the rotation and activate more of your chest muscles into the shot.

Looks the same as the other video posted.
RKelly is a really nice guy, hitting medium pace back to you every time.
YOU hit one or two to him, then just go for a corner.
Your movement seems bad for your forehand hitting level.

I kind of thought you were supposed to hit to your partner in cooperative rallies, not in the corners? My partner hits in the corners too, but I think on accident.

Cheetah is playing "first to 11, or first to 21...after the second ball over"...
RKelly is hitting everything back medium speed, mid to short NML, and lots to the forehand.
They are playing a different game.

The next time I play a set I will post it. Maybe Thursday but it depends on the guy I play with. I'm not sure he wants to be filmed yet but probably he'll be ok with it.

I was supposed to hit with 5263 today, but I had to cancel because I had a playoff match I had to play today instead. I felt bad because called me and wanted to play. I told him we'll do it soon.

I agree. If someone rallied like that with me, I'd tell them to clean it up or find another hitting partner (sorry Cheetah).

I've hit with RK and his strokes are solid 4.5. He looks poor in these videos because cheetah is trying to hit a winner off nearly every rally ball. He's running RK ragged and nearly every shot is on defense.

The purpose of rallying is to develop strokes not to try and hit winners. Save those for a match or a friendly game of 21.

That is the purpose of rallying, but not the purpose of the video. The video is meant to showcase the capabilities of cheetah.

Then record and play an unedited match. It's easy to look good when someone is feeding you loopy mid-court balls.

I was under the impression they were rallying not 'showcasing' cheetah's skills.

Your right anywhere that I have played what you say is true. But not in the TT world, blasting the ball is the only thing that will impress here. Consistent rallying is a no no, that shows that you are a weak player.

Of course. Do people care about Nadal rallying with Djokovic? No. TT posters are up there with the pros in terms of ability and hold each other to high standards.

Thats what everybody else does, but this turned out to be lets show how good cheetah is. But to most of us it really shows nothing but him blasting easy midcourt shots to someone who can't cover the court.

And this is exactly what experienced players do not do, or they at least wait until there has been a decent rally going before unloading.

Why don't you three come down south to hit at Balboa Tennis club. It's 6 bucks for the entire day. The doubles challenge court is always busy and there is never an issue finding a match.

There is a 4.5 doubles challenge court on Saturday mornings that lasts into the afternoon.

You don't get it. As Bud said, he has played with rkelley and knows how good he is. It is not that he cannot cover the court. It is difficult to explain. When cheetah hits a deep one at you with sidespin, you have limited options. It will look like you are pushing it back. In real play, rkelley would not have fed such a ball in the first place. BUT ONCE HAVING DONE THAT FOR VIDEO PURPOSES, there is no going back to a safe place under the assault.

We can set that up. I have never been down to Balboa in the 9 years I have lived here. But I would need another person to go with us, otherwise I will stick out like a sore thumb in terms of level of play. I can be a kind of backup.

I was told it was Saturday not Sunday and I played with the Harvard guy who did show up on Saturday and I also played with RKelly later that day. I already explained that to you, twice. I'll come to balboa if you want. I used to hit there all the time.

I don't care, at all, if anyone doesn't like the editing. What I did was import the vid, look at the sound track that had continuous sound in it, stitched those together real quick, snipped out the seemingly quiet parts, removed rallies that were one shot, went over it once to get rid of conversation and profanities and removed shots where the ball flew over the fence and such. If you guys want a video of misses and picking up balls and shanks and what have you put your own vid up.
That's the way we play. Rkelly and I don't play sets w/ each other. Usually we play harder and more competitively. We were only hitting a few back and forth for video's sake. Usually it's one or 1 or 2 balls over and then it's a free for all.

I recorded suresh and i hitting earlier. It's uploading now. Looks like it's gona take a while.

rkelly and I don't rally. i've said that on this forum numerous times for over a year. we feed the ball and go for it. We both hit w/ other people who like friendly rallies. I hit with another person who also doesn't like rally and wants to feed and then go for the point. Sometimes I hit w/ rkelly and he wins 90% of the points. it goes in cycles. last month he killed me for a whole month. Sometimes I have the upper hand over him for 2 weeks straight.
That's what we do we will continue to do the same thing.

Going to get dinner. Maybe the vid will be up when I get back. The vid has all the rallies from today minus 2 where a ball rolled into the court from the next court and one where we had an extended convo during the point.
