Hitting with heat up the T

I am right handed, and from the duce side, my flat first serve up the T was always there for me.

After starting to play again, other parts of my game are coming back, but not this serve.

The serve was not something I ever worked on---I just had a good serve, and never thought about it.

Any tips for getting back this shot.

I do seem to miss wide.

The serve is the most complicated stroke in tennis, and it is very easy to do something wrong.
I think the thing to do is what I always do when practicing/learning/relearning a stroke, start at the very beginning and work a progression to a full stroke.
There are many online clips to help with this

I'm in the same place. Comeback after 20 years. Used to have a killer serve. Now it's fairly hard but totally unpredictable. 100% ok Serve is one of my goals this year. Like all things: Practice. And agree with above.

Thanks, Guy. Tossing a little right seems to be a big help. My racquet is more or edge than before and I seem to get full pronation with with easy power. I hit a few good overhead by hitting it more right also and seem to get the ball more in front of me. Not sure if there is a relationship.

toss out in front a bit and maybe slightly right if you're a righty. since the serve is so complex, maybe it's time you start actually practicing it?

Flat serve is the first serve to go as you get older. Hitting flat bombs repeatedly for winners and aces diminish as you get past 20's and 30's.

Mixing in different spins, disguise, accurate placement along with flat bombs help you hold your serves as you get older.

Hitting a flat serves does not mean no spin. I had a big serve in college and after 25 years of playing golf I still find ,the young players; whom have game. still have trouble with my serve, on one of my good days.

Heat kills. Location kills.

Beware of old people, we can not run, but we have game!!

For old people, cold kills, heat kills, location kills, dislocation kills, etc.

For the flat serves you have to make sure the toss is just right. This video helped me alot. You have to go out and specifically practice that serve if you are bit older IMHO. Going to try that. So much advice and information out there especially on the serve. Thanks
