Ball abuse Mr. Federer

Didn't look like he really hit it though, just kind of bounced it off his racquet. Seems a bit of an over-reaction from the ump.
I thought I was watching volley shank, but it was whole other thing.

Technically yes - deserved. But truth be told the umpire was a bit petty there. It was funny because a game earlier he had been reprehended by Fed for not informing him in advance of the new balls and he probably wanted to show his authority. So at the end of the day it backfired at Fed.

he didnt look like he "abused" the ball to me but depending on where the ball lands i believe its an automatic violation if it goes in the crowd i think?
if it didnt go in the crowd i have no idea why he was called on it

Federer gave up this point here so that he can claim it back when he needs it most. Any guesses?

Well at least on the bright side, we can expect the same stringency and harshness on other violations by certain other players....
1 second over? BAM penalty. 0.5 secs? Too bad. Penalty.
