Technically yes - deserved. But truth be told the umpire was a bit petty there. It was funny because a game earlier he had been reprehended by Fed for not informing him in advance of the new balls and he probably wanted to show his authority. So at the end of the day it backfired at Fed.

He'd already had a code violation, so it could only have been a verbal warning at that point - but yeah probably harsh when looking at that incident in isolation.
