Just past midnight here but I can’t turn this off. Riveting game. The Astros need to have it you’d think
You better not haveSo tired probably going to miss this end
You better not have
Happ doesn’t have closer stuff but Boone went with the hook early on starter Paxton and used up the power arms in the pen.
Gonna be a long series.
Diaz and Springer got his pitch count up there. If Chapman had gone 1-2-3 in the ninth he certainly would have been out there in the 10th. The Springer 10-pitch AB won’t look sexy in the box score but it was pretty important.Liked that bold move by Boone to pull Paxton after just 2 1/3 despite only being down 1-0.
But I say rested Chapman has to suck it up and pitch 2 innings instead of bowing out after 1 with 21 pitches thrown.
Don't know whose call that was.
Another annoying case of getting what I asked for but still being upset. All I wanted was to steal a game in Houston and leave 1-1.
If we had just lost like 5-1 or something last night I would be in a great mood. But to have a chance at stealing a Verlander start in Houston and not convert...it hurts. Got him out after 6 innings and 2 runs. That was the dream scenario. Never could've imagined this lineup having more trouble against the bullpen than JV himself.
Encarnacion, Sanchez, Gardner and Gregorius are automatic outs right now and it feels like a completely different lineup because of it. At least one of them is going to need a big hit tomorrow if they want to win a Gerrit Cole game. Hopefully Stanton is back in the lineup too. But even if he is, Cole will probably make him look silly.
Dome? It’s The Juice Box and they only close the roof in October when it rains.Astros just look like the slightly better team, particularly the bullpen.
Yanks looking at Cole in Game 3 and then at the Dome against Verlander in Game 6 and Cole again in Game 7.
Ouch.

And the fact that a K looking was his best at bat for pretty much the entire playoffs tells you everything you need to know. On paper, fouling off a bunch of pitches looks like a good AB. But watching live, he had at least 2 pitches to smash and fouled them off instead. That's not good. When he's even half-right, those are roped into left field. But his timing has been off for months and months now. It's brutal to watch when you know what he's capable of. He should have struck out swinging at a ball in the dirt that he missed by about a foot, but the ump had a total brain fart.Though Sanchez struck out looking, he definitely gave James a battle, fouling off some tough pitches.

Gardner did hit that one rocket, but the rest of his ABs this series have been absolutely terrible by his standards. He's going golfing on everything in the dirt and watching fastballs right down the pipe for strike 3. Brett's never been like that before and it's bizarre to see. He looks nervous, and he's the last person I'd expect to see that from.

I’ll still take the Yankees bullpen but they can’t be stretched to nine innings like last night.
There is a retractable roof...was it raining last night? @Big_Dangerous lives nearby???There was a foul ball along the third base line that hit the girder and ruled a dead ball.
Ball looked like it would have been very playable otherwise.
Somehow got the feeling they were playing indoors.

It is a live ball if it hits the roof or its girders and lands in fair territory. Boston’s Rafael Devers was alert enough to run out his towering blast to right field in a game in May vs Houston. He made it to second base safely.I think they were playing outside. But the stadium is probably designed like that.
An otherwise playable ball can hit the girder and be ruled a dead ball.
It was definitely a make-up call and I support it. Would've felt dirty to me if Sanchez had gotten on after such an egregiously bad call on that phantom foul tip. Astros fans would never let us hear the end of it if the Yankees had ended up winning, and rightfully so.Two on and two out with game tied at 2 all. Sanchez did have a great at bat and then struck out badly on a low ball.
But the ump ruled it a foul tip. Replay showed Sanchez missed it by a foot. For some bizarre reason that is NOT reviewable according to the rules?! Wow.
And then the hapless ump called him out on a third strike that was way outside.
Lol. Hope that was not a make up call.

Now that my Nats are all but guaranteed to advance any1 still think they're a long shot against the Ys or As? At the very least you've gotta be impressed with our pitching so far.
If Severino can deal his best stuff for five the Yankees have a shot. Boone needs to save the pen for reasonable length outings. If the Astros carve out a 2 or 3-run lead early, then leave Severino out there for 80 pitches and take the L without depleting his strength. And the fact that a K looking was his best at bat for pretty much the entire playoffs tells you everything you need to know. Love to see Nats pull it off. Should be well rested...
Srasburg looks great but still think Cole and Verlander are on another level.
Nats also up against history. Only a couple of National league wild cards have won the World Series.
Dang bro being an Athletics fan is hard enough we don't need to lose the A's moniker too.
It’s better than the offensive “Bullets” inherited from Baltimore. And yet V gave up 2 runs last nite vs. Strasburg's 0 tonight. Not too shabby, no?
Good point about Ns being the wild card, though. Obviously doesn't favor our boys.
Or you could be stuck with our bball moniker "Wizards." It always could be worse. (Seriously not sure why they keep coming up with these bound-for-future-ridicule names. Stick to a neutral one for gawd's sake.)

They play like the Washington Generals these days so maybe pump them up by promoting them to the Field Marshals???
I wanted the Nats to win this series. But I also wanted competitive baseball. The cards are playing like crap

Now there's one "neutral" name that should've never seen the light of day. But then we had George Muresan on the roster!
And this is a transition season for us. Let's save the pump-up surprise for better days.
Colt .45 is:At least bullet denotes speed. Wizard is dumb and potentially racist.
My fave innapproiate team name for todays is the Colt 45s. Great looking Jersey though
Colt .45 is:
1. A very acceptable malt liquor that inspired in part #2
2. Afroman rap song, not quite as big a hit as Because I Got High.
I would share a link to #2 but fear a permaban so you’ll do the needful search on your own.
Not only the bullet...it was the revolver that tamed the West!In addition to the popular caliber of bullet manufactured by the Colt company.

On the flip side, the Yanks blow a RISP with no outs when Gardner hits away instead of the sacrifice. Move the runners up so a SF scores a run!Correa with a terrible at bat to bail out severino. Should’ve gotten more than one run that inning
Severino is in the 90s pitch count. The hook will come soon.Yankees doing a good job of making Cole work. Could have made him work even harder in the first with some more patience. 2-0 does not feel insurmountable with the high work rate they're giving GC.
