Footwork and movement practice (video)

As Fergielicious says...

I be up in the gym just working on my fitness"

Okay, maybe not quite vicious, but definitely been training and doing drills again so needed some live ball practice to work it into positioning, setup, and such. So that is what I worked on yesterday, but also threw in some cross court target practice. Know this isn't everyone's kinda a vid, but figured I'd throw it out there. Did get point play in last week but wasn't able to share that video, but have a match coming up so hoping that can be posted.

Anyway, as always any comments or general banter welcome.

Also, temps are already up in AZ. This was a later morning hit and was over 90 degrees, hitting 108 yesterday. Need to start getting out earlier.

Cheers. Hope to see other out and sharing videos.

That dropshot was fricking nasty

Or maybe it's because I haven't seen tennis in a really long time, still a good shot regardless.

I just bought a camera mount. Hope to post some vids soon. Your new footwork makes every shot better.

It is a funny thing about getting back in shape. I remember posting video here years back and one of the first comments was that I was using too much footwork, so back then I worked on efficiency. Now getting back in shape after a few years, I feel I wanna move a lot, but again need to consider footwork and energy efficiency. But being able to get setup quicker and have more time feels good. It goes back to something I have always said for recreational players, that the two F's are the biggest improvement most can make - fitness and footwork. You can have the most gorgeous strokes ever seen - even pro like - but if you can get to the ball with enough time to setup for them, you will be compensating with out of position, reaching and rushed shots. So agree, footwork makes every shot better! Thanks Minh. Hope we get to hit again sometime!

Cool stuff, didn't even know this channel was yours, i'm already subscribed from just looking up other casual tennis content

Thanks! Yeah, I had a bunch of video over the years I kept for review and such, but in the last few years I started just putting it all out there. Still just for my review and learning, but figured others that are trying to improve might be interested in things I do and try. Also get a lot of good feedback...and of course even more criticisms. :) All good. Hoping to start getting matches up again. Had taken a long break to work through fitness and finally work through some proper rehab on nagging issues and feel very ready to play again. Cheers!

Thanks! I have been missing that (among some short ball putaways) lately so felt so good to nail some at practice. Though...I hit with a few of the college kids just before the quarantine stuff and what is a great shot for my 40+ league gets negated often with them young legs and speed!

Nice hitting - those ground strokes look well grooved. It might just be me but you seem to be using your legs and body rotation much more in the forehand shot since I last watched, either way very effective. Looks like the hard work in the gym has really paid off. V jealous here as I am doing a good impression of Jabba the Hut on my sofa.

I see cones on the ground, why are there two on each side?.

Like that nice front toe pivot on the FH. Im focusing on that myself. Better drive and accuracy. [emoji4]

Thanks. I've been trying to decide between being more on the balls of my feet, or more firmly planted. I see a good variety of both in higher level players and pros. I find I am on my toes more often than not, especially on the BH side. But part of footwork I have noticed is pivoting for power and setup for quicker recovery.
