    Tourna 300 non-adjustable clamp concern

Thanks @dak95_00 I didn't notice those, yes that gravity release button looks like a good idea. What about clamps themselves, are there any upgraded versions to the stock ones on my Pioneer DC+? BTW, just ordered Wise head.

With all due respect to @Ash_Smith, how many of his students have been ranked in ATP top 200?

Talent Exists And Practice Is Overrated

I didn't read the study, but anyone who says that talent is not important is delusional. By talent I mean a superior genetic ability to perform some task. The talent is always a major factor, regardless of any other factors. Of course, it's not the only major factor, but I've never seen anyone...

Talent Exists And Practice Is Overrated

@Coolio, of course talent matters. Has anyone disputed that, ever? What's less obvious is that talent AND hard work is not enough. There are thousands of talented and naturally athletic guys who have worked hard since they were 8 years old (and many started much earlier), to be the best they can...

Practice video: me vs D1 player

Good points, thanks @Mareqnyc, I do need to make that split-step, and faster movement. I think it's more of a fitness issue, I just don't have the energy sometimes. Lack of sleep does not help either... BH videos @Gyswandir posted really help, I had no idea 1HBH technique of those 6 top pros is...

    Are We Practicing Smartly?

Oh, I have no trouble playing 5.0 players. I'd like to do well against 5.5-6.0 players (D1 level). That's where my game breaks down.

    Are We Practicing Smartly?

@Coolio: I watched D1 players recently, and I realized that the main difference between them and me is not serves or returns. The main difference is that they are able to stay in the point longer than me. I only need 1 or 2 good shots to win a point against 5.0 player, and maybe 2-3 good shots...

    Are We Practicing Smartly?

I played a match last week, where I served 7 aces within a single game. I lost that game: whenever the guy could return the ball, he outplayed me from the baseline, mostly by hitting to my BH. Do you still recommend that I work on my serve? As far as my returns go, I have a very good FH return...

    Are We Practicing Smartly?

For the last month, I only played matches. 5-10 minute warm up, then best of three sets. I feel I got worse. Seriously. And most of the points I've lost were not weak serves, or weak returns. Most often it was lack of focus, or lack of energy, which led to either an unforced error, or hitting...

Practice video: me vs D1 player

I just played a match against a decent player, and I tried to move into the ball on my BH, or at least to stay down, and keep my head still. I noticed two things: my BH becomes more aggressive, but the margin for error decreases. The reason for my falling back is that it gives me more time to...

Practice video: me vs D1 player

Thanks guys! @SpinToWin: very good observations, I'll try to follow your suggestions tonight. It was a surprise for me to see that I don't use my body weight on my BH. Definitely got to work on that. Regarding the FH: would taking the racket back earlier have the same effect as a shorter take...

Practice video: me vs D1 player

I had a chance to record a couple of groundstroke games I played against an ex-D1 player. I'm closest to the camera. How can I improve?

    My college recruiting video

I don't think any D1 coach will want to watch a "recruiting video", it's a waste of time. No one cares about your strokes, footwork, etc. All that matters are your results. A coach will need to you to win matches, not to look good on a court. But if you don't care about D1, and don't need any...

    BNP Paribas Challenge pre-qualifying tournament

But that's my point - I don't think you would've gotten in, unless you have a decent ranking (like a challenger level ranking).

    BNP Paribas Challenge pre-qualifying tournament

https://ems.resrunner.com/bnpchallenge2016 Anyone can sign up, but if more than 128 people sign up, how do they decide who gets in? Considering the importance of the main event, this pre-qualifying tournament is pretty much a challenger level tournament.

Harcourt practice session video (very good quality)

Don't get me wrong, he is a decent player. However, if his ambitions are to play D1 tennis, he has to improve quite a bit, and I would start with the BH. Actually, I have the same problem with my game - I don't have enough confidence to go for winners off my BH side. And even though my BH is...

Harcourt practice session video (very good quality)

Sure, but the point is - his backhand is weak. When forced to hit it, he will get killed in response. Those pros have a good BH, and a great FH, and the OP has a bad BH and a good FH.

Harcourt practice session video (very good quality)

Your backhand is weak. You move to the left all the time to hit forehand. As a result, you waste a lot of energy. Any decent player will exploit that.

Rick Maci, Sanchez Casal or Saddlebrook tennis academies? Which one to choose

I used to work at Saddlebrook, but I haven't been to the other two, so I can't really compare. Don't expect any meaningful tennis instruction at those places. They hire pretty much anyone who can hold a racket and yell "go-go-go!" really loud.

    My strokes, D1 goals (video)

Why are you arguing? You asked for opinions about your game, and I gave you one. Don't like it? Too bad. If you want to change my opinion, post a video where you're beating a good player. Until then, talk is cheap.

    My strokes, D1 goals (video)

From the video where you play points, you look about 4.5 level. But it's hard to say, because your opponent is really bad. Again, just looking at that video, you're a long way from D1 level, at least from D1 level in my school (UCSB).

    How To Improve Past 5.0?

Well, then try to create a handicap for yourself when playing those 5.0 players. For example, start every game at 0-15 or 0-30 disadvantage. Or force yourself to go to the net on every point. Or go for winners from the baseline on every shot. Make it harder for yourself, and make sure you still win.

    Rally Practice Video

tlm, jga111 gave you a good advice. You're falling back on most shots. Try to go forward, through the ball - to do that you will need to bring your racket back earlier/faster. One good thing about your game is that you hit the ball high enough over the net. Keep doing that - it's always better...

    How To Improve Past 5.0?

Hey Coolio, I'm about 5.5 level currently, used to be 6.0 many years ago (tried to play futures, but didn't get very far). Now I'm playing tennis 3-4 times a week, mostly for fun and workout. The only way you can get better is if you play someone better than you, or someone who can beat you at...

can a vibration dampener affect tennis elbow?

Not only dampeners do not affect vibrations of the racket, people can't even tell if the dampener is present when they can't see and hear the racket at the impact: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15801498

    Alternative to Wilson Sensation strings

I've been play testing these 3 different strings for about a month now, so here's an update: Black Widow 18g: strung at 50/48 (full bed), StringMeter measured 60lbs in the mains. Total time played: about 5 hours. At first, the spin I was able to generate with this string was amazing! The...

    Alternative to Wilson Sensation strings

hoodjem: yes, the four different strings you mentioned is what I have at the moment (thanks to this thread): Sensation 16, TBS 17, BW 18, and Maxim Touch 17. I'm going to rotate through four rackets, at the same tension (50/48lbs), and compare. Then depending on the comfort level, I might mix...

    Alternative to Wilson Sensation strings

Ok, I just strung one of my rackets with Solinco Tour Bite Soft. In fact, that was the first time I strung poly on a drop weight machine. At first, I wasn't even sure how to do it - the string does not stretch at all, so on crosses I could not get the arm with the weight into the horizontal...

    Alternative to Wilson Sensation strings

I just saw these guidelines on how to string poly: http://www.***********************/blog/2011/03/the-definitive-guide-to-stringing-polys-and-co-polys/ In summary, when stringing poly you should: 1. String in 30-40 range, with abs max = 52lbs 2. Pull the string slower than you would do usually...
