    2023 WTA Madrid 1000

Anyone noticed the challenge in the 2nd game of Zheng-Alexandrova match? The graphics showed ball in the middle of the line, super slow-motion video capture next to it showed the ball being in air. And once super slo-mo continued playing, ball bounced clearly behind the line.

    Kontaveit ranked WTA #2 with GS results of 1R, 3R, 2R, 1R

Surprised to see Anett Kontaveit ranked WTA #2 high having won only 3 matches at grand slam level throughout last 12 months. She has finalist spot from year end's tournament and quite an amazing run at the end of last year at lower level tournaments but this has to be first time when a player...

Fed in his teens/early 20s was very temperamental, how did that stigma erase itself completley?

Read from somewhere he saw video of him and Marat smashing racquets and felt he didn't want to be remembered for that instead of his tennis skills. If any truth in this then here may be that moment

    Mens/womens champion both don't lose a set

So Nadal and Swiatek both went through the field at RG 2020 without losing a set. Got interested whether this had happened before and when. Apparently not in the open era, but there have been couple of instances before that: 1938 Australian Championships - Don Budge / Dorothy Bundy 1938...

The most picturesque tennis stadiums are clay courts

EDIT: Didn't realize it when originally posting, but this pic is taken last year on Rome Masters after a cancelled day when they pushed 2 days worth of matches into one day's schedule. It's Thiem-Verdasco 3setter early in the morning and I was actually lucky enough to be sitting in the stands...

    LOL Birmingham match

Perhaps not too close of a match, but I've always thought that Tomas Berdych and Bernard Tomic have a bit of a symmetry going on with their names also.

    WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai

Woah, did their oncourt coaching just end with sumyk by telling muguruza "f*** it" and walking away in the middle of changeover?

2018 WTA week of June 18: Premier Birmingham & Mallorca

Cannot confirm 100% but Kontaveit had some conflict with her coach (Glenn Schaap, reason was apparently pretty lol - her boyfriend & priorities). In RG Schaap left before Kvitova match, Anett managed to win it and hoped things get sorted out. Before Stephens match she found out that they are not...

2018 Dubai Tennis Championships - WTA Premier

A bit offtopic question: livetennisrankings has 5 weeks rankings that shows how many points drop off for the players in the coming weeks. For WTA it currently displays that several players (Kasatkina, Sevastova, Gavrilova etc) will gain points between weeks 4 and 5 (for example in Kasatkina's...

    WTA PREMIER MANDATORY: BEIJING

Can someone point out the rule (or some other info) for bye's in the first round for Garcia, Barty and Ostapenko? I assume it has to do with their performance in Wuhan (or in South Korea in case of Ostapenko?). It's just uncommon for me to see that they get a complete bye instead of just...

    Today's matches, no evening?

It generally starts at a (semi)reasonable time for europeans. I quite enjoy that looking at previous years men's finals highlights the matches always seem to begin during the daytime and end under the lights offering a nice contrast :)

9 times for the possibility of Djokovic being in Rafa's side of the draw, 8 times it actually happen

I vaguely remember some tv programme where they asked some people to imagine tossing a coin and write down 100 (or smth) made up results and then they gave them a coin to repeat the test for real. And once done they showed these written down results to a mathematician, he had no trouble...

    2017 Acapulco ATP 500 Djokovic?#1, Raonic #2, Nadal #3, Cilic #4, Thiem #5

A bit offtopic, but it is surprising that Murray and Hewitt played each other only once. I would have never guessed it.

2017 Australian Open Final: Nadal (9) vs Federer (17)

Just happy (and still a bit in disbelief) that this final is taking place. I think Nadal will edge it, but I'm really pleased with the idea of either guy lifting the trophy once more (and quite likely for the last time). Most of all I hope for a competitive match that the fans of both players...

Measuring the supposed inferiority of the one-handed backhand

so thiem is making nice progress up the rankings. who are the next young 1hbh players you expect to break through once they master their 1hbh? could you give couple of names in 18-21 age group to keep an eye on and root for?

    Wimbledon 2015 QF: S. Warinka [4] vs. R. Gasquet [21]

Isn't anyone else surprised they have met only twice so far in their careers? Once in 2006 and once in 2013.

when your favourite tennis player loses to a guy, then that guy loses to another guy in the next round and then that guy loses in the next round?

Is Kyrgios destined to be the most hated player on the tour?

FWIW - i remember that I really rooted for Janowicz when he broke through in Paris Masters couple of years ago and was pretty much crying in TV interviews when asked about his unbelievable run. A true cinderella story. It took couple of months to realize that his...

Juniors - 1 one handed backhand in the top 10

This wasn't a rhetorical question by the way. Really interested in who is the next guy in Thiem's age group with onehander and how is he doing? I understand that now that the junior years are over these guys are starting to outperform their 2hbh peers and we should see bunch of promising...

Federer's 1,000 Match Win is Looming

Is this what makes Federer so likeable and loved by general population? We know (or rather hope) that he will reach this remarkable milestone perhaps in IW or Miami (or Madrid). And then he shows once again how underrated he truely is by beating this deadline by 2 months. Great work from the...

    2015 year of the goat.

Never noticed it before, but Novak's logo reminds a bit of knight chess piece (upper left part of D is like horses head looking down). Wouldn't be surprised if this is intentional to symbolize Novak's smartness on court.
