What Carlos can do to turn around his rivalry with Sinner and from becoming Hewitt of this era?

Regarding the USO farce, even beating Sinner doesn't count when comparing with Sinner.

What Carlos can do to turn around his rivalry with Sinner and from becoming Hewitt of this era?

He's 1-2 in their last 3 matches against Sinner. Their last match in Beijing was played during a period where Sinner has been playing some of his best tennis and Carlos has been inconsistent. There isn't much to separate them, and I don't think there's any major concern for Carlos unless he...

    Basic nolefams hold the line

The troops are already lining up. The fan bases have dug their trenches. I can't wait for the first 3 pages of gppd to be filled with provocative proclamations. Things will get extra spicy when small Carlos collects some more big titles and some other 1-2 slam GOAT contenders emerge.

    Basic nolefams hold the line

Early signs suggest Sinner's fanbase may take the cake. We'll see how things unfold.

Would Murray be an ATG if he exchanged his 2 OGs for 2 slams?

Also, generally considering the era in which he played during his prime warrants inflated perception of his raw numbers. He's a low-mid tier ATG.

HELP. Lower back pain--Came on suddenly

These are great. I had a lower back injury a few months ago from lifting something with uneven weight distribution, and played states with the injury which made it worse. I used my back extension machine, got an inversion table, and did some cupping and was good to go within a couple weeks.

It took me a month or so to adjust. I had to learn to drive through a bit more, probably due to the lower weight. Once fully adjusted, I feel like I'm slicing better than ever. I have a OHBH and can easily hit flat and with slice at will with the PA98. Drop shots are a dream too, I just have to...

What does Carlos need to improve to get back on top?

You're missing the context of the entire initial post in which I referenced Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer. Nadal was clearly the earliest bloomer and one of the best 17-19 year old male players of all time, if not the best. But he still was only dominant on clay until a few years into his pro...

What does Carlos need to improve to get back on top?

I'm not sure if you interpreted my comment as disparaging Nadal for how great he was at such a young age, but that was not the point I was making. I was referring to how hard it is to just start winning multiple slams per year at that age, and even Nadal at that age did not WIN multiple slams...

What does Carlos need to improve to get back on top?

There are 9 individuals who have managed to beat Carlos in the past year. At majors, he's lost to Novak, Daniil, and Zverev. Let's look at Nadal's 2007 season. He lost to Gonzalez at the AO, Federer at W, and Ferrer at USO. Losing to Novak for Carlos and Fed for Rafa are a wash. So you're...

What does Carlos need to improve to get back on top?

People forget what it means to be a 20 year old phenom, it takes time to build consistency and experience for sustained high level results across multiple surfaces against elite competition. Nadal was 19 when he won his first FO, but he didn't win his first major outside of Paris until he...

Pretty much my experience as well. I started having elbow issues playing with the Pro Staff v13, then switched to the PA98/PAVS and almost instantly felt relief. All elbow pain was gone within weeks, and I continued playing 4-5 times per week with the PA98/PAVS without any time off. I recently...

Is Sinner the most talented player we've seen in a while?

You're right, I take back my totally serious hyperbole. One tennis major coupled with a history as an 8 year old pro skier makes a talent GOAT.

Is Sinner the most talented player we've seen in a while?

I've never heard of a pro skier in the 8-12 year old category, but now that I know Sinner was a pro it's all the more impressive. If late starts are the ultimate measure of talent, Ivo Karlovic playing his first junior match at age 16 makes him the GOAT.

    Jannik Sinner = Roger Federer?

    Sinner = the GOAT

Is Sinner the best 22 year old since the big three?

Yes, by virtue of the fact that Little Carlos is not yet 22 years old.

Sinner's win is the new Dawn of tennis

Before his SF loss to Medvedev at the USO, he was exactly at 91% winning percentage on the year. By that point, he also had 2x M1000, a Wimbledon win, and 2x ATP500 titles in addition to winning the only ATP250 event he participated in on the year. But I wholeheartedly agree with the premise of...

Sinner's win is the new Dawn of tennis

Going way too far. No one said this and if ttw got overexcited about alcaraz that's ttw fault to always jump the gun. Your last few sentences here sum it all up nice very nicely. Excellent 3 month run by a young player hitting his stride is a "new dawn", "permanently shifting tennis landscape"...

Sinner's win is the new Dawn of tennis

Sinner is God tier. The sport has both been reinvented and reborn with the breakout of La Carota.

Is Sinner going to be Sampras to Alcaraz's Agassi?

Nonsense, they are heroes and not mere mortals. We need compelling comparisons and narratives to increase the hype. We need more hype!

Is Sinner going to be Sampras to Alcaraz's Agassi?

He's like the Lendl to Alcaraz's McEnroe. Or maybe he's like Batman and Alcaraz is like Superman.

Forget ELO and other metrics, who has the highest peak hype rating?

Most media hype and sensationalism for a young player...Despite the frenzy surrounding the carrot and his big win, I still lean Carlos Alcacramps due to the level of fawning and creepy comments exhibited by commentators during some of his matches last year. These young bucks sure are getting...

Implications of possible 24-23 after RG

For anyone on here, the answer is they will pick their favorite player and then select years in which they played well against some high seeds.

    Something was wrong w Novak

He played like trash, that's what was wrong with him. Everyone has a bad day in the office. The prep/conditioning leading up to AO was bad due to the wrist, then illness and poor form early in the tournament added compounding wear and tear that a 37 year old body can't recover from as easily as...

Implications of possible 24-23 after RG

I can't imagine the early round opponents Rafa might face given his current ranking. If we wins and ends up taking out Sinner/Alacaraz/Djokovic/Meddy/Zverev in early rounds, it could go down as a goat title run. I have a hard time seeing it, but you never know.

Nadal said it's unlikely he will win 3 Slams when he comes back.

The other challenge is his current ranking. He's going to get some tough early round match ups and will likely need to go through several top 5 players to win any tournaments early on in his comeback. I think he'll do well but anything more than 1 or 2 more slams before he retires seems like a...
