16x19 6 vs. 8 strings in heart

what is the difference between a 16x19 pattern with 6 vs 8 strings in the center?
Why have so many under 100" rackets 8 and most 100" (babolat, head, wilson...) only 6 in the center?
shouldnt the bigger rackets have more strings in center an the smaller lesser? are there any 98" with only 6?

the mains start at the throat for 6 and the head for 8. Whereever the mains start for a 16 main racket they will also end. Therefore many people who string a racket with 8 mains (like most Prince frames) is the throat will string it one piece. When stringing 1 piece make sure you get the short side on the correct side as many of those frames may have only 1 way to string them.

I was thinking more of the feeling and spin you can get, does it make a difference there?
I doubt i, but if you compare the 6 & 8 rackets you will generally find where the throat pice meets the head the 8 main (16 mains) is a little wider.

Wilson PS97, standard as well as RFA, have six mains in the throat. They are indeed a bit more open at the center of the racquet than say a Prestige Pro that have eight mains. On the other hand, the PPs are really only 95sqinch.

The rad mp vs. the speed mp is a perfect example. I played with both side by side for a very long time, and the radical has noticeably better control, both depth and side-to-side. The speed did have a lot more spin, though.

100 sq in rackets have, for obvious reasons, a slightly smaller throat than sub 100 sq in rackets. That is one important reasons they have 6 mains trough the throat and not 8.

I think manufacturers know that most players are seeking "more spin" and a 100" head offers a larger margin for error for those whippy, vertical strokes. 6 mains just happens to go with that type of a racquet.

Imho 6 center racquets are capable of a stiffer stringbed. Since they pull tension from the top, the center mains are usually tighter.

It maybe seem counterintuitive, but "only" 6 mains in the yoke means possibility for wider spacing. That should mean better spin potential. If 8 mains then tighter spacing and more control. Therefore spin rackets often have only 6 and control rackets have 8.
