Shaq had 61 pts 23 rebs. If only he could make his FTs he would've had 70.

I am confused. 2000 Summer Olympics were held in Sydney. Read Bill Russell and other NBA rookies did not join their teams until December after the Melbourne Olympics, which were held from Nov 22-Dec 8. Thought that the Summer Olympics in Aus may be as late as Jan.

Sydney Olympics were held in beginning of September IIRC.

Will be interesting for 2016 when Olympics will be held in Southern Hemisphere in Rio. Albeit I don't expect the season to be that different from what Sydney was.

Well it's true that the 1992 team won every game by a landslide, but large part was due to the international competition was very weak 20 years ago. Other nations have vastly improved over the decades, many players are so good they are competing in the NBA. While I believe the 1992 team is > than 2012, you can't use the level of domination of the 1992 team going against the 2012 team.

I actually agree with you here. International competition has improved largely due to the publicity the 1992 Dream Team gave to basketball.

it is a wishful wishdom, not true in general terms.I was a keen fan of international basketball from the late 70´s-early 80´s and, while Spain has a great team, and so does Argentina and maybe France, many traditional powerhorses ( at FIBA´s level) like Canada,Italy,Brasil,Puerto Rico,and for a while Cubo,panama,Czeckoslovakia as well as unexistent Yugoslavia and Soviet Union were far better teams.

In my opinion, the idea that international basketball is better is becasue 6-7 ( at most) overseas players are NBA stars.But NBA itself has been decreasing its competitive level.agains, except 10 or 15 players, most of the current NBA teams are below the level of the 80´s and most 90´s.

Like in tennis, Fed´s 17 slams look impressive but, then again, look at his competition...

but saying the same thing happened in tennis is just not true
