Peter Bodo on Tennis.com said:
Robin Soderling: Oh, I know Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal partisans will howl with outrage when they see this, but at some point the dam is going to burst and the Federer vs. Nadal finals won't be quite as ubiquitous as they've been in the past. Besides, Soderling has been on a steady upward swing, the relatively high bounce of the Aussie courts will allow him to really tee it up, and he's Swedish. And you know how those Swedes—and their legions of shirtless, face-painted nincompoops—love the Australian Open!

nuff said. i'll start. lol

I don't know what he said wrong there. Soder did come into this match looking really good. Broke 2 times in 94 games this year. I hadn't seen Alex before, but credit the kid for playing so well. No one could've predicted that.

I agree with nikdom. It takes no guts whatsoever to predict a Rafa-Roger final. Somebody picking something else reasonable -- the way Soderling was playing was impressive -- is not something I'm going to LOL at.

Peter Bozo strikes out again. What else is new. He also predicted Safina would take out Clijsters 1st round.

Either Bodo has some kind of distaste for Swedish tennis fans or he needs to learn what a nincompoop is?

Not really an outrageous prediction.

Dolgo just GOATed, just look at this stats. He'd have beaten almost anyone playing like that.

Soderling was never winning the Australian Open irregardless of today. Beating Murray, Nadal, and Federer in a row when he has zero big wins in a hard court slam in his whole career. Please.

Soderling is a definite thread....but sometimes he can be easily outplayed! Sucks that he had to play a spinny guy...Sod can't handle slice!

Soderling is a good player but he doesn't have game to take out Murry, Nadal and Roger or Novak in a single tournament in best of 5 sets matches.

Dolgopolova beating Soderling was always more likely than Soderling beating Murray, Nadal, and Federer all in a row in best of 5. Particularly when it is evident his best surfaces are clay and indoors.

What a paradox!

You couldn't have two more polar opposite surfaces.

It doesnt matter. Those are the two surfaces his best results are on. Clay probably since it is the slowest and gives him enough time to set up with his big backswings. Indoors since it is fastest and his power is most effective. Hard courts are fast enough that his poor mobility is exposed, yet not fast enough to make his first or second strikes unreturnable. Grass of course is a unique surface he is just not that comfortable on.

Even winning his previous matches Soderling certainly didn`t feel comfortable on the court. There is something about Australian Open that bugs him.Getting to 4th round is his personal best.
