A Head Mid- non brittle white grommets finally!

I've always experienced these white grommets on the older Head frames (Comp Pro, Comp Master etc) to be brittle and fall apart over time. But I finally found one with white grommets that are not brittle, the Austrian Challenge Plus. Looks like in between a Graphite Pro and Prestige Pro mold (same 89.5, beam has similar dimensions to the Graphite Pro mold but rounder edge). I restrung it and the grommets are literally perfect. I wonder if there are more non brittle white grommets out there! Would love to acquire a few more.:)

I thought the cosmetics are great too.:) this frame really surprised me. It played much better than any other 89.5 Head frames, very stable and crisp feel. It is not too flexy, which is the case with a lot of these Head Mids that I don't like. Not nearly as good as the Prestiges, but beat Prestige molds like the Elektra Pro hands down. Also very maneuverable as it felt lighter than a Prestige and is more HL.:)

Is it better than the Graphite Pro and Comp Tour, both of which are 89.5?

I don't have a Comp Tour. Graphite Pro is the black Euro version, and I have a Comp Pro, I prefer this Challenge Plus over both as the Comp Pro is too flexy for my liking and the box beam Graphite Pro doesn't cut thru the air like a Prestige mold therefore doesn't feel as maneuverable. This one, with the beam a bit similar to the Prestiges, works better.:)

I feel the Elektra Pro is a great racket. Although it does not fit my playing style, it does fit playing styles of others. It has a good swing weight while swing through the air. All of these rackets, I feel are not better than one another but are different and have different qualities that may fit different people. Thanks for sharing your Challenge Plus. I have a few rackets with white grommets that are not brittle as well. I will post pictures up when I get the chance.

Agreed - what's good for one but may not good for other. .. Please do post the pictures of your collection of rackets with white grommets.

I agree with you too. The Elektra Pro would be a great frame for players who prefer a more flexible frame.. which is not really for me as the flex makes groundstrokes a bit unpredictable for me. I may have to experiment more with the Elektra. I thought it felt quite light at the beginning with the original half CAPs, then seeing they have signs of falling apart too (still not as bad as the white grommets), I put on i.Prestige CAPs and added some lead under the CAPs too, 4 grams I think. After stringing it up it is much more head heavy than I wanted and felt like swingweight increased a lot. Going to take the lead off soon and hopefully the swing weight will be right.
