Aerogel 200 (18x20) Poly Tension.

Would the fellow Aerogel 200 users please give me some suggestions on a poly string i should use and tension i should string it at, to increase the rackets low power and low spin production.

Im basically after a setup that someone has found plays sweet in this racket as im not a stringer myself and dont want to waste money constantly trying different strings and tensions.

I usually play with 18 gauge redcode at 60lbs but feel that it lacks power, does this racket like thin gauge polyester at low tensions??

Yeah, Red Code is a pretty low powered string, so at 60 its gonna be really low powered. I'd stay in the thin gauge family, but maybe something softer. MSV Focus Hex plays really well in the AG200. They make a 1.10 diameter, so you get plenty of spin. Pro Supex Big Ace Micro is another good choice. It is a 1.15 diameter. For tension, I would go around 57 or 58.

Another thing you could do is keep the Red Code in the mains, but use a synthetic gut in the crosses for added power and feel. Poly hybrids play pretty well in the AG200. Make sure you tell your stringer to up the tension 2-3 pounds on the syn gut crosses, because they are more elastic. Good luck!

At 51/49 lbs though does the string move around a lot or does it hold its tension well? Last thing i wanna be doing is resetting my strings after every point!!

I love BBO at 56 but I am about to change to Weiss cannon Silver String at 58 or 59 because the BBO has such bad tension maintenance.

I have my own stringer and have been playing around with tension for a while now.

I used to use 17g PSGD at 60# but now i'm using 17L (1.20) poly at 56# and it feels comparable. The poly is a cheap first gen poly from eagnas.

I've got redcode at 56 on my 200 and I still felt it lacked some power. I've switched to the AG 300 now, which gave me more power. The Redcode was a bit tingy. But on the plus side, it looked brilliant on the 200 :twisted:

Did you use a full job, or a hybrid? Because a full job of one of the lowest powered strings out there in a pretty low powered racquet can only equal a crazy low powered setup. If you've still got some RC, try a hybrid and see if that helps. Oh, and I would think the RC would look better in the 300 than the 200. Maybe its just me.

Big ace micro would be a great choice, nice and soft and the small guage means you get good spin.

I agree that it would look good in a 300. I was using full RC :-? Yeah, pretty low powered haha.
