After NINE HUNDRED consecutive weeks in the top 10, there are now two records in Nadal's reach...

What will he end up with?

Now that he's passed the unimaginable NINE HUNDRED consecutive weeks in the top 10, Nadal is chasing two more records:

1. Overall weeks in top 10 - Federer currently has this at 968 weeks. So Nadal will need to remain in the top 10 until mid 2024 to take this one.
2. 1000 consecutive weeks. Achievable by the end of 2024.

It's crazy to think back when it all started...

  • 50 cent's Candy Shop was #1 in the US
  • George Bush was the president of the USA
  • iPhone was still 2 years away from release
  • It was around the time Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah's couch
  • Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith was a month away from release
  • XBox 360 wouldn't be released until November
  • The Office just recently premiered
  • It was 2 days after the first ever video was uploaded on YouTube
  • Zuckerberg offered to sell Facebook to MySpace.. but the CEO declined the offer of $75 million USD

Perspective:

Alcaraz needs to remain in the top 10 until most likely 2038 - 2039 to break this record
Djokovic will need to stay there until about 2036
All other players who were ranked in the top 10 alongside Nadal when he first entered it in 2005 have now retired
Grigor got within 170 points of dislodging him on 8th June 2015 - that's the closest he's been to being knocked out of the top 10

I wish him to reach 1000. It would be a great achievement, probably unbreakable. Still long way though, at his age many things can happen in short time.

Also, if he ends up in the top 10 in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the Spanish player would reach 20 consecutive seasons in the elite.

You only need around 3k points to maintain a top 10 ranking. Nadal would earn all of that in the clay season alone. And if he didn’t, he’d probably have less than 1000 to make up. It’s still a pretty impressive record all things considered.

In 900 weeks he only spent 209 weeks as Number 1

First of all, it's nice achievement, but nothing that important for caliber of player Nadal is. At that level being in top 10 is only matter of injuries... Can you imagine Novak or Fed or Rafa being healthy and not being in top 10? Considering that fact one can say Nadal wasn't injured that much trough his career, which collide to constant crying of he's fans here... They should realise that Nadal just wasn't that injured but realised limits off clay putting all efforts in clay season while having opportunist approach in hard court and grass season.

Nadal missed 7 months from June12 till Feb13.. stayed in the top 5..

He also missed the whole second half of last year and remained top 10...

The injuries were real. The fairy tales you and your ilk come up with are not real... much like your hero... he's so fake everyone sees right through him like a clear window... that's why the French booed him out of the building this year when Nadal sent him packing.

lol, what's with this top 10 record. Its meme worthy. Guess who is second in this - it's Jimmy Connors. Now where do you place Connors in all time list of ATGs.

Like I said, the only thing meme worthy is your account along with the other trolls on here...

Connors is also 2nd for most consecutive weeks #1... he is a legend and where people place him in a list of ATGs is irrelevant to that...

Rafael Nadal entered the top 10 on 25 April 2005. He's been in there ever since.

If Tsonga had beaten Wawrinka in the 2015 French Open semi final, Nadal would have gone out of the top 10. Nadal also won the 2015 Stuttgart and 2015 Hamburg tournaments when ranked at number 10 in the world.

True. But what if Grigor got to the 4th round? Or would he have needed qf? Can't recall.

So, if staying in the top 10 for basically your entire career isn’t an impressive or important stat, then neither are top 10 wins, no?

Don't worry, this will become one of the most impressive/important records once Djok achieves it in 2037. He is after all, getting better with age...
