Is it for real or just some other paintjob?
I play with instinct and like it very much...but Agassi? Interesting...

I think that is a real LM Instinct. Like Andre's LM paintjob racquets, the corrugations would be much darker.

Look at the throat. It's not completely flat like it was in his old racquet. There are the indentations there where the throat and shoulders meet. Does anyone know what I'm talking about. I think it's real. Weighted up though. Andre may be trying to keep up with the young gunners with this more powerful frame.

LM Instinct

Agassi did use a LM Instinct in Houston for his match. I am involved with the tournament and asked one of the stringers there about it. The reason why Agassi is using the racquet is to give him more power on the clay. And yes it is a real LM Instinct.

Regular or extended? Did he go for the extra 1/2 inch, too?

Yeah.. that frame is much thicker than his Radical... It probally gives him more power, maybe he wants to hit through people at the French!!

I play with LM Instinct, and from photos it appears a REAL Instinct.
Instinct is a frame totally different from Radical and Prestige. It really gives more power to the shoot... Somewhat similar to Babolat Pure Drive: same idea, different way to apply to reality. It's a nice frame to play 1 mt ahead of the baseline, to put the opponent under pressure.

Now many will probably buy the LM Instinct. Then Head will ask Agassi to lay with another Head racquet for Winbledon, then more sales. Finally another one for USO, and evn more sales, LOL. Great!

Agassi is not going to win another major so he can use whatever Head asks him to use.

Ridiculous notion. Agassi is one of the greatest competitors in the history of sports. Amazing fighting spirit. This is just outrageous.

No one is questioning Agassi's competitiveness. No one is also questioning his willingness to tell what the newest Head racquet he is using.

However, he has not won a major in a few years. Do you think he will win another one? Are you willing to bet with me?

This year, he is full of "F" words, even said to the umpire that has the same last name as his wife. I wish kids do not learn from that.

I gues that is OK in today's society because our Vice President even said that to a senator, LOL.

oh geezz, how desperate.... instinct, NOW ?!?! oh wait it is like the aero drive, maybe he should switch to that instead.... oh wait, I know, the surge. Look, if Agassi wins the french using an instinct with Lux strings, then everyone on this board would switch, but I doubt it, it is too late, stick a fork in him he is done. Monkey around with his set up at this stage shows how desperate he really is, I mean he can't be more in physical shape, it is impossible, maybe it is his gear Never see sampras with all LUX job right before he retired, right

I saw agassi play on tv with the instinct and i couldnt believe he was using it. He used a flexpoint radical in doubles with jim courrier tho. So i dont know what the deal is witht he racquets

Juan Carlos Ferrero just started using the Radical. Do you remember any other players in the past who have used the Radical other than Agassi? Maybe he doesn't like sharing the radical with another touring pro? :)

Another idea is Gasquet. Agassi has had the hardest time beating Fed lately, perhaps he wants to try Gasquet's racquet to see if he has better sucess!

You said it. I enjoy seeing Agassi adapt as he gets older.

I dunno... As of right now I dont really think there is anything that he can do physically. I dont really think hes gonna be able to hit a better ball or get in better shape. Maybe a more powerful racquet and maybe changing up his game can do it for him.

I watched Andre play the other night when he won in three and used the Instinct. Never saw him play worse. He was making uncharacteristic errors--dumping forehands in the net and just trying to block back returns to keep them in. I'm not sure the racket suits him (yet).

If there is one thing people should have learned about Andre Agassi by now, it's to never underestimate him.

I would not be surprised if he never won a major, nor would I be surprised if he did manage to win another.

LM Instinct Tour XL is not a power racquet, dunno about that lightweight Instinct. XL is the only LM IMHO that has any flex or feel

It's not a "power racquet"... But it's not a player racquet at all!
It's something between player and tweener. Nice fell, good pop.
Even my coach likes Instinct! :)

just because he switched doesnt mean he's desperate, he did the same thing in the 1990 clay court season switching to a midsized widebody until the middle of the french open tournament

you guys are absolutely ridiculous. You see a picture that's not even a detailed close-up and you come to the conclusion he's using an actual stock LM instinct?

LOL

Well said. That is the point I was trying to make earlier. This could just be another Head marketing move to sell more racquets. It could very well be the very same racquets AA has been using during these years but with a new paint job.

Agassi bought them himself in the Westside Tennis Club Pro Shop.
The "they're all paint jobs" crowd live in a fantasy world of conspiracies with thousands of participants - it's useless to reason with them. They're on the defensive not only because of this, but also Ferrero and Coria's obvious switches to racquets that have some degree of customization but are demonstrably not repaints of their prior frames.

I guess Agassi is sort of pulling a 1987 Martina, but in a different way. Andre probably used the Instinct to get more power, which was the same with Martina, in which she dumped her old Yonex for the Max 200G that Graf was using. The only thing that is different is that Martina was using it because she thought she could beat Graf, which she did. Agassi, on the other hand, is trying to survive.

I believe that racquet is real...
It's Agassi that is painted! It's Gasquet with Agassi paint-job on!

THink of it this way. I has to be the real Instinct because Head would never make a paint job of his old racket to look like the Instinct. Their sales would drop, because everyone would get the Instinct instead of the Flexpoin Radical. THat is why it has to be real. or head lost their minds.

I know that Agassi is not opposed to buying and using his own equiptment (as he seems to have done w/ the instinct). About 4-5 years ago when I was a teaching pro/player w/a babolat contract I talked to the team manager Tom Russ on the phone who said he had just a second before hung up with Andre who was ordering strings from him w/his credit card (I dont remember the string but I remember it was 15 guage).

You are just upset because you aren't special enough to get a paintjob...
