Aside from Graf, they could not find (or attract) people who were actually a major presence there--as in multiple title winners?

Looks like they got the "D" Team with an "A" player lost in the shuffle.

I hope you are not implying Agassi is part of a "D" team. You know an 8 time major champion, the career grand slam, a former Wimbledon winner.

For a few years he refused to play Wimbledon because he didn't want to ahere to the dress code restrictions, but in '92 he proved that a baseliner "could" win on a surface thought to be a serve-and-volleyers haven. Agassi put tennis on the map, more than Sampra, Laver, and all. Like Sabatini made more people interested in tennis.

I do agree, they should have included other people besides Graf. Sampras, Navratilova, Borg and Steffi would have been more apropiate.

Well, yes...but the difference is when Borg played Wimbledon he almost always served and volleyed on his first serve, but would stay back on his second serve (I watched four of his five finals). I don't recall specifically, but if Agassi served and volleyed at all in the Wimbledon final he threw it in as a change up, a surprise tactic.

Anyway, I can certainly see how some would make the argument about Agassi's relevance to Wimbledon having only won once, but to me he did it in a fashion that went totally against the grain. Up until '92 the overwhelming consensus was if you couldn't serve and volley, your chances of winning on grass was slim and none.
