Anyone else disgusted with Poly?

Let me run down the past few weeks for you...

I've been playing the Fischer MSpeed heavy version the past couple months and have been pleased with it strung with full poly. However, I can't stop thinking about how well I played last summer hitting with VS gut. I've decided in the past weeks that I like the feel of the MW 200G's better then the MSpeed and just strung one up with Alu mains and Gosen crosses. I hit against a wall in my shop just a little just to feel the MW with poly. I'm not real thrilled. I've decided that I'm going to swallow up the price and buy some VS. I think I'll hybrid it with a cheap synthetic. I just can't forget the feel. I like the performance of the Alu, I just like more feedback. I like to really "feel" the ball. I'm a serve and volleyer, but I have been busting strings like crazy. I bust a full job of Alu every two weeks, only playing three or so times each week. I'm not saying that poly isn't a good string, I've actually enjoyed playing it. However, I don't think I can stand the lack of ball feel. Think I'm making a good decision? The way I figure, VS and a cheap syn or multi can cost around 18-20$ a string job and my full ALU is 15$ so I figure for VS I'll pay an extra 5$ or so each time.

It took me a while to bust the VS gut last time I had them. In the 18x20 frame, I'm hoping that I can retain some durability.

Yup, polys dont have great feel, but that isn't supposed to be its strong point.
I do a lot of S&V myself and I have noticeably less touch at the net.
Polys are great on days when I prefer to stay back and whack the ball, plenty of control when hitting all out.
So no, I'm far from disgusted with it, but I don't use it much either.

Well I've never tried gut (kinda pricey), so I just go w/ polys. And it feels not that bad. Pro hurricane 57 is very similar to prince syn gut at 60 except better performance.

that may be true, but prince syn gut isn't exactly the most feel oriented string out there. evidenced by its price. its not durable, nor much power, nor much feel. somethings gotta give: the cost.

i'm digging polys now as well as multis. gut is a bit too much $$$ for me to use regularly. anyway i think u gotta find the right poly that matches the racquet and playing style. been hitting with monogut in a hybrid w/syn gut and really like it. btw - i'm using it in a 18x20 low powered players racquet.

I think for you it is a good decision seeing that you are a serve and volleyer looking for more feedback.

I play mostly at the baseline, but finish points at the net, so my need for feedback and feel maybe less than yours. Thats mainly why I have been trying various poly's over the last few years.

I have enjoyed the process the majority of the the time. I was only really dissappointed when I tried Kirschbaum Super smash...the loosened up greatly and lost all feel...

Note: I have yet to try gut, so my opinion could could change drastically, but I have played with high end multi's which supposedly mimic gut.

Why don't you just Hybrid your VS gut with Alu ?

I don't quite agree. IMO, feel is not proportional to price or else why is ALU so expensive? I actually find lots of feel in cheap mono syn guts like PSG, Gosen Sheep Micro, Gamma syn gut, Wilson Extreme, etc., and that's what I generally use.

Poly in comparison has far less feel than these syn guts. I also don't like poly because they're harsh and gave me golfer's elbow in just one week of using them.

I don't think the low price corresponds to lack of feel, I think it corresponds to it's lack of tension retention. I think it feels great for the first 6 hours!

If I were to be a full time serve and volleyer, that is the only way I would even consider using gut. The feel is great at net, and the power on serves is monstrous. The fastest serve I've ever hit was with gut and it was a ridiculous monster of a serve. I was totally stunned by it. The fact that gut cushions the blow means you can hit all out on the serve and not seriously injure yourself. However, from the baseline the power was very difficult for me to control. That's the main reason why I don't use gut and stick to poly for the most part.

I had Klip Legend at 58 in the MSpeed. I prefer VS but it wasn't bad. Earlier today, I hit with the Gamma G325 which was full TNT. Really felt great. I am going to play tomorrow, I may end up switching racquets and strings. I'm fairly excited about the "feel" of this Gamma with some gut thrown in it. Really was amazed at how great the ball "feel" was.

I tried TNT. I liked it a lot actually. Very nice feel for a syn gut string. Unfortunately it only lasted about as long as sensation, which is not long at all. I would bet gut would last longer and the TNT would turn out to be more expensive. LOL. String searching, the never ending journey.

Yeah, the TNT was TW's demo string in the racquet. I actually have a friend who used to work with Gamma. He told me he could give me all types of free Gamma multiKs and syn guts. He actually told me to try VS mains and TNT crosses. Told me that I would be pleasently suprised with the durability.

I love poly, lets me take my mind off of strings moving and strings breaking so I can concentrate on playing tennis.

I dont care for the feel of them myself. I like some of the standard synthetic guts, wilson reaction, and so forth. I also hate stringing with the likes of BB, which is like handling piano wire, but using the pull method on the crosses makes life easier, for anyone out there who hasnt tried that.
