Anyone listen to country music?

Haven't heard of her, needless to say, country is pretty big here....will keep an ear out for her.

What do you define as hillbilly? Cause her music is more folk-bluegrass... so maybe that's what you mean? Yeah, I'm guessing she doesn't get much play on the country stations cause she's on an indie label here in NY. They kind of watch out for their own in Nashville... although the funny thing is, she's originally from Nashville.

Hillbilly is a term coined by the big city press in the 20's and 30's to described the local people in Appalachia and the name was attached to music coming out of the mountains as well. I think most of the press was from NYC. LOL, just kidding. Actually, the blue grass/mountain folk was a conglomeration of many different kinds of music, Irish, Scotch, English, African, German and many others. Same as the instruments. I do think I have heard Laura played on a Public station here that specializes in local and indie music. Hit their website, www.wncw.org. You can usually tune in their live play over the web. I believe you would like it.

Hmm I don't know I can't put a definition out there. I guess I would have to listen to it and will judge whether its in the hill billy categorie.
