I sent the following email < I noticed re-issue microgel exrtreme for sale for 69$ and was wondering if it is made axactly the same as the original extreme mp. I ask because there seems to be some talk about re-issue racquets at lower prices using inferior materials and less materials to save cost. how can I know if the lower cost re-issue sticks are the same quality? >

Nate,

Thank you very much for the e-mailed inquiries in regards to some details on the potential purchase of a Head Micro Gel Extreme MP, which is now beyond the end of its life cycle, so tom speak. Hopefully the information that we can provide is of assistance to you.

You mentioned that you are a bit concerned that the version of the MIcro Gel Extreme you are considering, may be of a lower level of quality because it is a "re-issue". It is accurate to say that frame manufacturer's do have racquet's that they use to target the more recreational player. Those racquet's wind up in a sporting goods or department store's, for the most part.

There are lots of different ways we get racquet's that are out of circulation. Some are genuine re-issue's, like the Wilson Pro Staff 88. The quality is exceptional, but the new racquet's do not have that "favorite pair of old jean's feel", because the one most player's are comparing it to, has been used. Racquet's like the Prince Original Graphite are so popular that they are still manufactured with the same aesthetics, weight, balance, etc.

Other times, there is a surplus of a certain frame that we feel is relevant, so we buy them and reintroduce them back into stock again. The Prince o3 Red, and Wilson K six.two are good examples of this.

In terms of the Head Micro Gel Extreme MP being something other than "top shelf", I would not think so. the same would go for the liquid Metal, and Micro Gel Radical's. They are older frames, but the technology is sound, and the frames are of high quality. The Micro Gel Extreme MP still feature's the frame warranty with it, the same way the it did a couple of years ago. It is the real deal, so to speak.

I really appreciate the inquiries and hope the details help in making a more well informed search and purchase. Of course if there are any further questions, please send another e-mail and I will be happy to respond.
