At the end of their career - who will have the better record?

Nadal at the US Open

Or

Federer at the French Open

It's going to be close of course. Federer had more 4 finals in a row and won 1.
So Nadal's going to have to make at least 3 more finals (assuming that Roger doesn't improve his record at the French - and he could very well do so) to equalise.

I don't normally like the Federer vs Nadal threads. For the record I like both guys - and think they are both huge talents at the game.

Under normal conditions, Nadal will. He just has to win USO again. It's highly unlikely that Fed will ever win FO again. Highly unlikely (I'm not saying impossible because almost nothing is impossible.)

We will see I guess. Nadal has a way to go to equalise with Federer in their weakest slam (Federer FO, Nadal USO) because Federer has been a finalist on three other occasions.

I think Nadal winning US open will equal if not surpass Fed's record at the FO, and realistically i think Nadal winning another USO is more likely than Fed winning FO. If either one wins one more, it wouldn't matter if the other makes a gazillion finals and never win the title, a win counts for much more.

Currently, Nadal is the favorite in every slam he enters, on every surface, including the US Open. If the US Open began tomorrow, he would be the favorite.

Even if Fed were 24, winning another FO would be considered a long shot. But he's not 24, he's going on 30.

Nadal has a better chance only because there is noone currently dominating hardcourts the way he does clay.

Federer was so close to the grand slam twice but he had to play a if not the clay GOAT in those finals. As of now there is no one standout on HC.
