Brought my old Pure Controls out to the courts for fun yesterday and I can't remember why I've always switched away from this racket...it's fantastic! Great pop and control and it serves huge! I first got these in 8th grade when I was 13 in 2003 when I switched from the Pure Drive swirly since then I've gone:

Pure Control swirly
Liquidmetal Prestige Mid
Pure Control Swirly
Liquidmetal Prestige Mid
Pure Storm 98 Original
Pure Control Swirly
Pure Control 2003
Pure Control Swirly
Fischer M Pro One 98 SL
KBlade Tour
Pure Control Swirly
KBlade Tour
Youtek Prestige Pro

Can I really switch back again? This is borderline crazy, any racquets that play like the old swirly out there?

Tell me about it! I've been here several times :) ...

It's too much for me now but on those more recent occasions when I've pulled it from the bag, the feel and boxy rock solid performance and how it performs when hitting to the baseline (like a pendulum!), well, I know exactly what you mean.

Re your closing qsn, X Force Pro is worth at least considering IMO. Newer Black Blade (open pattern) too.

Sadly, I actually sold my only PC Team just last week. Sometimes the compromise of this life are just too unbearable...

I bought one Pure Control Swirly to see what the hoopla is about and ended up selling it after a few months mainly because it felt way too stiff even with natural gut mains and soft poly in the string bed. At the time, I was using the Storm Tour GT. The Pure Control Swirly was just too stiff of a frame though it was a monster in terms of how solid it felt returning incoming serve bombs.

I think the Pure Storm Tour GT was an improvement over the Pure Control by offering a bit more comfort though not as solid as the Pure control which to me was a bit unwieldy compared to the Pure Storm Tour GT.

This is me all over, although in my case, I keep returning to the PD Team.....simply no PD (nor othr racket I've tried across most brands) gives me that special feeling of, "my gun's better than yours" like the PD Team (VS Gut 57lbs) nor has any PD version since the Team been any where near the feel of that version.

Babolat could make a fortune through re-launcing these old classics, perhaps under a heritage line, etc....

They really could like I mentioned before my PC, I was using the Pure Drive Swirly, I actually was lucky enough to have one before they really came to the USA with Roddick's popularity. We had a French foreign exchange student come live with us for a month and his Aunt worked for Babolat at the time. The swirly is way better than any of the recent Drives or Roddick versions I've tried

I've never really felt the PC Swirly to be uncomfortable, does your Storm feel as solid? That is probably my favorite thing about the PC it's just so rock solid.

Okay just as a background I had a shoulder injury and haven't really played for the past year someone left a MPH radar at the courts and I hit a 114 on my first attempt after warming up on another court. I'm pretty sure I've never clocked it higher than that. I may be on the lookout to add to my 2 PC swirlies soon. I just sold one that was 4 1/2 but if anyone has some in 3/8 please let me know!

Fellow PC Swirly user here, facing the same conundrum. There's no denying that this stick's a monster from the baseline, just like there's no denying that it's a lot of racquet to move around, especially when you're feeling tired. I demoed the PDR and the Graphene Speed Pro, but wound up liking the Swirly more than both. I'd like to demo the X Force Pro, but I'm in Canada so I really can't :/

I used to swing the PST, but after using the Pure Control for the first time, it was an easy switch. It's a ballcrusher, to be sure.

I really haven't had an issue with the weight, my biggest issue is that sometimes I have trouble keeping the ball in. The X Force Pro is pretty much the Pacific version of the M Speed Pro One right? If that is the case I used to use that M Speed too, it is a great racquet too but it has a muted feel and is very flexible. It just doesn't crush the ball in the same manner as the Pure Control.

The crappy thing is that nowadays there aren't too many racquets that are built to be both heavy and stiff, two factors that really make the Swirly so special. There are a ton of sticks hovering around the same static weight, but I really think its the 72 RA that gives the racquet its rock solid feel and power. Set up, turn your hips and shoulders, and boom.

I think you nailed it there, the new Storm Tour aren't as heavy nor as stiff. I did try the very first Storm Tour and it truly was a nice racquet, but it wasn't the Swirly haha

Same here. I switched to the first gen PST from the O3 Tour, and I loved it; it was solid, had good pop, and was good on serve and at net. I was happy.

Then I got the PC, and it basically told me "Buddy, you ain't seen nothing yet."

I really don't like leading racquets up too, I went with the original Storm 98 when that came out, I thought that one felt very nice but I bought it with the idea of leading it up. It never felt the way I wanted to with lead it up to about 12.3-12.5 ish like the Swirly

Considered trying it, but didn't bother because that would only solve half the equation - more weight would be good, but I'd still have to deal with the Storm's flexier composition, which admittedly isn't at all bad if you're looking for that kind of feel.

Surprised more racquet companies don't try heavy/stiff, to be honest. The weight of the stick would give it plow-through and less vibration to damage the arm, so long as its strung with soft string or low tension poly.

For me it is indeed stiff yet also has great feel (not unlike the PSC 6.1). It just pancakes and plows through the ball with such impressive boxy stability and vibes-free granite solidness. Add that to the exquisite baseline performance (great controlled power, spin and placement), well, it's some frame all right...

Have a fair amount of experience with the the very first PST (with Carbon Extreme tech or whatever), the PSTGT and PSTGT +. Although easier to use, these seem to somehow lack something for me in a few areas and don't achieve the same special level as the illustrious Swirlies. I also find (nowadays anyhow) they play a bit sluggish, an issue of course that was undeniable with the Swirly and one you would have thought would have been eliminated now. Probably just me getting too old and past it. :)

I never have had an opportunity to try the PSC, but yeah the PC has great plow through and has such great pop....haha I'm talking myself into it more everyday
