Bad string jobs...Yulittle question

Hi folks,

I've been stringing my own racquets for years using the clubs stringer but a year ago I bought my own stringer (silent partner) and started to string for other people (everyone loves the rip control 17g go figure!). Anyhow I've cut out other people string jobs and I can't believe what I'm seeing.

I've seen people do a 2 piece string job racquet with a 1 peice by either stringing the crosses from throat to head or actually reverse the string direction. (If you were suppose to start throat to head, they started head to throat)

Ok. I've been told by the certified stringers who taught me how to string that this is not a good thing for the frame and I'm pretty sure it isn't. However, from the amount I'm seeing this kinda of crazy stuff I'm beginning to wonder if it really matters. I know racquets these days are made out of titanium weaving and space age materials so they are pretty tough.

So does it matter? Should I tell my friends never to string with those stores again? Or it doesn't make a lick of difference and saves string and time.

Thanks,

Mike

Word out to Yulittle. Learned alot from you dude. I hope you do some vids on not only stringing but racquet customization. I'm a big fan of the lead tape and I'm hoping you can show some stuff I don't already know.

Todays frames can take a pretty good beating, but they aren't indestructible, so it's better to use proper techniques.

It would be pretty tough to "reverse" the string direction because they wouldn't go in when you finished the strings at the throat. You'd have to skip a hole. They were probably doing an Around-the-World pattern, which is perfectly acceptable (you can search ATW on these forums).
