I can understand not giving him a WC to the main draw, but not even a WC to the qualies?

The following Australian players have received wildcards to the qualifiers (QWC)
Tomic is #462, so there are 4 players ranked lower than him who have received QWC

#236 Dane Sweeny
#367 Tristan Schoolkate
#406 James McCabe
#432 Adam Walton
#543 Philip Sekulic
#663 Edward Winter
#990 Jeremy Jin
#1017 Derek Pham

Nobody who doesn't follow Australian tennis very closely will have even heard of these guys. Ridiculous decision from Tennis Australia

Not following Tomic currently but he was known for shameless tanking, wasn't he? Overall his name is associated with negative things. I guess Tennis Aus don't have the 'all PR is good PR' mindset.

Tomic must have upset a lot of people in Australian tennis. That's why it's always a good idea not to go too over the top in your criticisms.

Tennis Australia have pumped far more money into the Tomic family (between Bernie and his useless sister) than any other player(s) in history - and for what? Endless complaining, deluded accusations of discrimination, straight up abuse and a dependable as clockwork stream of cringeworthy performances on court. I feel a bit sorry for him as he seems like the product of an abusive father but he doesn't seem interested in changing his approach and he used up all his second chances, handouts and wild cards a long time ago.

That should be enough for a wild card into qualies. He's had well documented problems with attitude, but should be supported when legitimately trying.

Nope, too little too late. He can earn his way all the way back if he really wants to, but deserves no extra help from anyone at this point.

He may as well just work his way back up and qualify for future editions on merit. If he's intent on putting in the work and having a late surge in his career then he's best keeping his head down, his mouth shut and working hard. The guy is 30, so 2-3 years in the top 30-50 are not out of the question if he redeems himself. Having said that, I don't follow him so I'm not sure what his attitude and focus are like of late.

Tomic is not admitting it, he keeps saying he has changed, and he may have. Maybe he understands now what he has done to his once very promising career. I think if he had the desire and work ethic of so many of the young players, Tsitsipas, Rublev, Alcaraz, Rune, etc, he could have won a major. Sometimes, mistakes like he he made with his tennis career just cannot be fixed. His career cannot be fixed at this point. I wonder how much longer he will have the funds to continue his "career ".
