I know this is going to hurt for some of you.

But the best Bond was...

Although I don't wish to be pedantic about matters, the film is bigger than the character. So what does that mean in terms of genre:?

1. Early Bond was initially in the cold war spy/adventure genre. The main charcter was primarly sexual or sensual.

2. Middle Bond turned to humour through self-parody., which bgan with the opening of OHMSS but was essentially the Moore era. His sexuality was playful and lacking in danger.

3.Late Bond is essentially an action film: Dalton did a spy film and then a revenge film, and both the later Bonds are in the same mould. Bond loses his sexual appeal due to the need to push forward the action.

Being somewhat brought up with adventure stories, and partial to serious spy films and novels, the early Bond films appeal to me. Connery is also the only Bond that is decidedly louche.

They also have the benefit of being first. Given that the films have almost the same structure, there are only so many interesting variations however successful the movies may be.

Bond women have gotten more and more intelligent and powerful unlike the stereotypes in the early movies. The movies have also added Asian scenes to ensure world-wide collections.

You missed out on your chance to co-star with Roger Moore in Octopussy. They wanted a tennis player but couldn’t handle the extra budget hit from your appetite for gulab jamuns during lunch breaks. Vijay Armritraj got hired instead.

I'm not sure that the cameo by the Indian tennis star, and the movie in general, did anything but reinforce Asian stereotypes.

Pierce Brosnan was too nice to play Bond, who is a nasty piece of work. Connery for me was the best, followed by Craig. Both had/have that nasty edge about them.

I have seen how the Bond movies have slowly moved to cater to wider audiences and different social sentiments.

They always include a substantial US connection to cater to the US audience.
There is increasing Asian presence where the markets are growing, and the portrayal is different from the subservient Asian shown in movies like Octopussy.
Women are stronger and independent, and less good-looking.
Sexist jokes have decreased.
Attempts are made to avoid casting Middle Eastern guys as the default villains.

Pierce Brosnan was let down by bad film after Goldeneye. No surprise that the games followed a similar path down mediocre road.

I dislike Pierce Brosnan's voice intenselly whereas both Connery and Moore are enjoyable to listen to.

They should cast Bond on voice first and foremost and then worry about the rest. The show is essentially a musical with action elements.

Connery not only had a good voice, but he also danced well. None of the rest moved well at all.

For both singing and dancing, Connery was the full package.

This guy is the only successor to Craig that I’m interested in seeing as the next 007:
