What do you guys think is the best current midplus frame with an open string pattern on the market today? (Excluding POG and Wilson PS 6.0)

In my opinion there is currently one Gem that does not need customizing in order to be able to play a great all court game.It is Wilson ncode six-one 95 16x18.

I appreciate the responses, but when I said current, I meant not discontinued. So that eliminates the Liquidmetal series. Also, I am only interested in players racquets so the shark and others like pure drive do not fit here. Also, only open string patterns please. PK Redondo is a closed pattern

FP is not discontiuned, used by good old Richard and beat Roger at his best to boot.

Tell you what get off your lazy but and do a search if you don't like the responses you are getting

Do some research

Well, I'm not in the Mid+ game, but allow me to point out the RDti-80. It's lasted for very long for good reason I think.

Misa, this racquet is for a friend who does not have access to demos and I am trying to help him find a racquet by getting people's opinions on their favorite mid plus frames. Jackson Vile, I never said the flexpoint was discontinued, I said liquidmetal is. All I was doing was clarifiying what i was trying to find out, no need for you to be rude.

i agree i'm currently using the LM instinct tour XL

have you tried the n6.1 tour 90?

I like the LMIXL but find it too light, boy does it hit one mean 1hbh, just can't seem to get that on the forehand side, must just be me though as Richard does amazingly with it

MPs w/open pattern, some of my favorites:

Dunlop M-Fil 300 (just bought two of these, now my main stick)
Yonex RDS 001 MP
Yonex Ti-80
Volkl DNX 9
Volkl Tour10MPGen2

I think the Volkl T10 MP Gen2 is the best on the market but it very much depends on the person using it.

It would be far more helpful if your friend could give an indication as to their basic preferences: flex, swingweight, static weight. That way we can make suggestions based on those requirements (very useful if you can't demo).

Redflea, I'm shocked,:D I thought you would be an rdx 500 mid user for the forseable future. Why the switch?

Yeah, I was surprised too. :) I was submarined by the sands of time...

Going from mid-forties towards early fifties, losing some foot speed, some endurance, and some eyesight! (;)) and wanted something a bit more forgiving. I'm playing a lot more doubles in the past year or so, and notice the most improvement there where I'm better at the net w/the slightly larger head.

I still LOVE my RDX mids, and haven't totally stopped using them, but have decided that it's time to move on. W/the M-Fil 300 I'm getting more reaction volleys back w/the M-Fil 300, getting easier access to power overall, and stronger returns on shots where I can't get to the optimal position for the hit. The good part is that I find the M-Fil 300 (w/the lead I've added) gives me much of the control and ability to hit lines that the RDX has given me. Not as sweet a feel as the Yonex, but I like my M-Fils very much so far.

My wife asked when I was going to sell my mids and I told her never...I'm still going to use them off and on for some recreational singles play, it is still the most enjoyable racquet I've ever hit with.

redflea, wwhich was a better serving and volleying racquet when you demoed the volkl dnx 9 and rds 001

I did better w/the DNX 9 than the RDS 001 overall...very subjective issue, of course. I found the DNX easier to control off the ground than the RDS overall, and served much better w/the DNX than I did w/the RDS. Net was a toss-up between the two...both volleyed very well for me.

I really wanted to like the RDS, as I was thinking a move from the RDX Mid to the RDS MP would be a smooth "in-the-family" transition, but I never got fully comfortable with the RDS and frankly wasn't sure why. It just didn't jell for me. On the other hand, one of my hitting buddies fell in love w/it and kept requesting me to bring the RDS demo when we hit...(he normally uses a PS 6.0 95 and POG).

I really think you should hit both, as both are really nice racquets with a lot of potential. But if you had to chose 1, I would choose the DNX 9.

They're all good as far as i'm concerned, but the two that stand out with the Pro's are the Head Prestige MP and the Wilson nsix-one 95. They are gaining legend status.

I would suggest that the least-likely reason to use a racquet is that some pro uses it (or appears to...pj's abound).

Choose a racquet based on your own requirements, capabilities, strengths, limitations, weaknesses, fitness, etc.

Hey Redflea, you're right. I used to use player's racquets and was getting really frustrated, and nearly gave the game away, i wasn't enjoying it at all.
I decided to get real with myself and buy a racquet that was suited to my game and swing, and after much research and demoing i bought the Head Radical Team. It is perfect for me, and i love playing again. A lot of people on these boards should do the same i feel, using what you're fave pro uses is not a good thing sometimes. It is actually detrimental. But a lot will just ignore the advice i'm afraid.

oh yeah its an awesome stick but for a 100$ i will use the LM instinct yes the n 6.1 90 is better
When I can buy three LM instincts I cant even buy two n 6.1 90s and yes I take quality over quantity but I am way too clumsy to just have one racquet
