And the moral of the story is: Nadal is "Mr. 5th set".
According to this thread, the best fifth set ever happened either since 2010 or in 2005. I guess a lot of people here have been watching tennis since either 2005 or 2010 (or even 2012).
do u know other fifth set (best) other than this?
And the moral of the story is: Nadal is "Mr. 5th set".
I didn't see it but the fith set of the 1980 u s open final must have been really amazing to see..borg had come from 2 sets down v McEnroe in that final and it was 4-4 in the 5th set till supermac broke borg..its quite tense watching it now on youtube even though we know now that mac won.
I agree with Wimbledon 2008 too..2 all time greats at their peak (or pretty close to it)..going toe to toe in the 5th set of the final of the major with the most history..also the fading light added to the drama..
Nadal crushing ***** in the fifth set at Roland Garros was my favourite. Not only did ***** lose the match, but he failed to fulfil the dream of his dead coach/surrogate Mother. Now every time he thinks of Roland Garros he'll think of himself as being impotent at Roland Garros- not able to make her dying wish come true.
I was stunned by Nadal's performance in the 5th set of SF against Djokovic at RG this year. Truly exceptional.
Wimbledon 1980, Borg Vs McEnroe, 8-6.
Ivanisevic vs. Rafter, 2001 Wimbledon final.
I disagree. There was nothing exceptional in Nadal's performance, beside couple of lucky shots that should have landed out.
Djokovic was better player in that match and should have won it if Pacal Maria was not biased and officials agreed to water down the extremely dry and dusty court as they should have.
Terrible 5th set, because biased officials and referee won it for Nadal.
Nope. Djokovic got beaten by Nadal and he was certainly not the better player in that match. LOL "lucky shots". Yeah, Djokovic was very unlucky that Nadal managed to hit almost three times as many winners as he did from the ground in the 5th set.
Sorry, but you are wrong.Nadal didn't deserve to win that match.

Perhaps you could be a little more specific as to which point you're referring to, with a more rigorous argument than 'you are wrong'. Here are the relevant sections of Sid_Vicious' post for you to try to refute;
I can't find the statistics for winners by set, unfortunately, so unless either of you can provide evidence for this statistic, then this point cannot be argued over.
Sorry, but after that classless and rude comment about Djokovic's deceased coach, you lost all arguments.Perhaps ...
From the RG website.
Nadal 5th set: 14 FH winners, 5 backhand winners
Djokovic 5th set: 6 FH winners, 2 backhand winners.
I was a bit off. It was not "almost three times" the winners. Still, it was a significant margin.

What...
Sid_Vicious has provided evidence. So that's 19 winners to 8 for Nadal, and has amended his statement to account for the statistics.
Your turn, Chico. Please provide your argument.
I know it hurts, but Nadal took it to Djokovic in the 5th set.
I was all for Djokovic in that match. I was so damn sick of Nadal winning RG, but I had to tip my hat at Nadal's clutch performance.
Nadal-Coria at Rome 2005.
