Best Kick Serve On Tour

who has got the best kick serve on the tour? atp/wta

I asked myself the same question recently.

Federer has hit a few unreal 2nd serve kickers, but I don't think that he has the best. I can't think of anyone hitting a kicker as frequent and as well as Rafter.

^^ Rafter is still playing?

gotta be Roddick or Karlovic. Their second serves are at 100 mph, sometimes 110 mph, and kick up way above the opponents shoulders/heads.

Fed's second serve is around 85-95 mph. Fed's second serve seems to have lost a lot of bite/kick/speed since 2006-2007 (probably due to age and bad back). Roddick's has not lost anything on his second serve over the years.

Roddick probably hs one of the better kickers at the moment. Devon Britton has a decent one but needs to develop it more if he wants to stick with his serve and volley strategy.

Can't think of a good kicker on the womens side right now...

LOL Federer?

The best kick serve currently on tour, in my opinion, belongs to Marin Cilic.

How are Krajicek, Edberg, and Rafter in this conversation? Have they all returned to the ATP tour recently? :?:

Federer have the best "second" serve but he changes it a lot. The best "kick" serve IMO is between Nole, Ljubo, Federer, Roddick and this brazilian guy called Belluci, I saw him playing last week and it was amazing.

Add my vote to Cilic, as far as kick serve is concerned.

Currently?... gotta be Roddick. Or Karlovic, but his has more to do with trajectory than spin. I don't think anybody gets as much force up and into the bottom of the ball to produce the top the way Roddick does.

I don't know about mens..but on womens tour it gotta be:

Molik
&
Stosur

True kick serves really kick...its not really about speed.

As always with these threads... define "best" first. Most spectacular? Most effective? Most reliable?

In terms of peak shot quality, Roddick's, says I, hands down. Unreal how high that thing bounces and the amount of junk it carries, embodies the full concept of "nasty."

Federer's good, great percentage and placement, but nothing jaw-dropping. It probably wins him more points, on average.

Obviously not.

My point was that today there really isn't anyone using the kick serve as much and as effective as Rafter did.

Anybody got a link to a video of Roddick's kick serve? I can't find one. The only good ones I've seen are Roger's. How come there are none of Roddick or Cilic if theirs are better?

Isner, Ljubicic and Roddick have tasty kickers. I sense that Federer's serve is a tincy bit overrated on this board.

First thing is to define "best". My nomination of best is consistently the most difficult to return decent. Now we can have an intelligent discussion??
