The problem with this approach is that Nadal is the master of absorbing aggression on clay. Novak will have to keep it up for 3-5 sets.

Spot on so far tbh. Djokovic has been mighty strong against Nadal's 2nd serves.

If Djokovic wins this one, and I hope he does, then he has beaten a very good version of Nadal on clay.

Here's what I wrote. Don't pick and choose quotes to further lies.

so, to be clear: I suspected Djokovic would win, he was the better player for most of the match, he deserved his victory, he would have won if Nadal was injured or not, but Nadal was clearly injured.

The funniest thing was the 1st set of '21 was almost a carbon copy of '20.

In '20, I felt if something clicked, Novak got into rhythm and won the 3rd set, anything could still happen! Nadal winning the 3rd set of '20 and ending the match, was crucial!

I still think Novak won this match in the first set by extending it. If he had thrown in the towel and lost with a bagel I don't think he would have pulled the match out.
