Can I play college Tennis?

Im 17 and 6'4'' and i've been playing tennis for about 1-2 years on and off but not serious. Just for fun and mostly just in the summer. In tennis im like an intermediate player.

At the moment im going to a tennis camp that last 5 weeks everyday. Is it possible for me to play college tennis of any type if i work hard??

You would have to post a video, but you would probably be a walk-on at an NAIA/DIII school if you haven't been too serious about tennis up until this point. Again, depends on how much you work this summer and before you get to college. If you go to a state school you would probably have to play club tennis or something. I'm a solid player, I played #1 singles for my school and I get smoked by good DI players; I'm lucky to get more than a game or two off those players.

DIII and some really nice community colleges will let you in. Well, most likely...

I heard one of our guys started tennis at the start of the school year. But he went to all of the practices and hit with some good players, and improved a lot as a result. He was a pretty good athlete to start with, but he's made some solid progress.

As for playing anywhere serious (DII and DI), no way. You wouldn't even win a point except on double faults, which they likely won't throw since they don't even need to throw hard serves at you and will spin it in all day.

thanks guys for the replies. I deff. understand that I can't play Div. I or II colleges even some Div III. I was more thinking along the lines of Baruch college in NYC.

My team has played Baruch in tennis over the past few years. They are decent. You would have to post a video to kind of have an idea.

A friend of mine played for Rutgers before their team got dropped and he only had played for 3.5 years with no formal instruction. It can be done!
