Can't afford new racquets right now, one last try at customization

Ok, as the title says i can't afford any new racquets at this time (have to wait until basketball reffing is over), so i decided to take one more look at lead tape and customization of my 300G's. I want a heavier more solid racquet with more power at the baseline and stability at net. Im thinking the majority of weight should go on the handle. Keep in mind i am also adding a leather grip. Anyway, here are the specs i have now and the ones i am looking to get.

Current
Weight- 10.8 oz (306 g)
Swingweight- 300
Balance- 4 pts HL

Future
Weight-11.3-12oz
Swingweight-315-330
Balance- any to end up with my specs while being HL

How much lead should i add and where?

dude that's a lot of lead you're intending to add ( about 30 grams) that would make it an entirely different racquet that won't have a bit similarity to the old one , and for your additions i think you will add lead to almost every single place : handle , throat and head of course ..
i don't advice it but that's just me

Try my foam idea. The racket will feel solid and soft. Make sure you pack it tight, real tight. This could add 4-5 grams on the MF300. Also try to maintain somewhere around 6-8 pts HL.

If you put too much weight in the handle the racket will be HL, yes, but when in play things can be very wrong. There's a "proper" combination of weight, balance and SW for a racket that will suit it's player. This, you'll have to adjust your mod little by little. Don't live by the numbers alone. In the past I have tried going by the numbers alone and my game died.

Sorry that I couldn't help more.

I didn't use any scientific method of calculating my swingweight or anything. I just added 2 4" strips for 3/4" lead tape at the handle, Wilson leather grip, Super Grap over that and 2 3" strips for 3/4" lead tape at 2 & 10 o'clock on my 300G. Feels more solid now. Plows thru heavy balls nicely. Serves pretty good. Well, I like it anyway.

I have a couple M-Fil 300s...10.9 stock, with just 2 grams under the butt cap and two overgrips, a gamma worm dampener, and some head tape it's up to around 11.4. Takes very little to get the weight up. :)

You haven't really told us what's wrong, or you think, is wrong with the frame and you haven't told us what you are used to or what kind of game you have. Check travlerajm and JohnCauthen (I am pretty sure I mispelled it) theories. If you so choose to implement them be sure to so with smooth and continuous increments - don't put all the lead at once.
Just to be very basic. Try putting about 10 grams to the handle, stripes going up from the buttcap plus the leather. After about a week add another 10 grams the same way , try to concentrate the mass evenly along the entire length with maybe a little emphasis on the bottom part. Then after a week see whether you like the HL feeling or you want more power. If you want more power put 10 grams on 3 & 9 and you should be set.

Actually, adding 30 gr is really a lot.
My advice:
1) Position: concentrate lead tape at 3 and 9 o'clock position plus underneath the butt cap to counterbalance.
2) Do not exceed: start with say 4 gr at 3 and 9 (which makes 8 gr) and 5-10 gr underneath the butt cap (so you get up to 18 gr). See how you feel (take your time not just a couple of hours) and go on with minor adjustment. Only if necessary you have to add other lead. You probably don't need all that weight, and your racquet would change to much
3) work on string: if you want more power go also for a lower tension.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and let us know

You are trying to change the world, when you should just be doing incremental changes.

Don't go for extreme changes, it doesn't solve your problems.

This may be another option. The Head XRC and Head Graphite Edge are good racquets at cheap price. I purchased from eb** at $5 each. Maybe cheaper than customizing your racquet.

just adding lead to the handle isnt the fix you need, you really need to add lead to the hoop....3/9oclock is what you are looking for if you want a more stable racquet...

k, i think i'll go a little bit at a time, that is probably too much of a change

Im thinking of starting out with like 10 g in the handle and 5-6 at 3/9

well i would say go buy alot of lead tape, maybe 3 packages of gamma lead tape from academy($1.99 each) and take long strips to fit from the beginning of 9 o clock all the way to 3 o clock on both sides. it would be alot of lead but give it a try. probably the biggest customization ever. and the extra lead u should put in the handle
