change the Head Prestige Tour 600 to what?

Hi guys!
I've been playing for 22 years with Head Prestige Tour 600 (old, red). 10 years ago, about six months I played with Wilson Pro Staff 6.0, I really liked it, but after 6 months, I went back to Head Prestige Tour 600.

I bought more modern versions, such as Prestige Mid Liquidmetal, Prestige Mid Youtek, but what struck me most of all was that these new versions did not have the same ball feeling as my old red rackets. I got rid of these rackets without regret. It felt like I was playing with a piece of wood.

Guys, please tell me. I want to try playing with a 98 -inch racket now.I want to buy a new or not a new head, with a 98-inch head, but so that the feeling is close to my Head Prestige Tour 600. Tell me based on your experience which racket will be closest to this.
Thank you so much.

If you want an MP with a plush feel and a dense pattern, maybe:

Graphene 360+ MP (might prefer the mid)

CX 200 tour 18x20

Vcore 97HD (last gen)

Or try to find a used PK Redondo.

I think you should try the Pro Tour 2.0 and the Auxetic Prestige Pro

Hello guys.

Today I got the opportunity to play Head i. radical mid plus. The strings I pulled are the same ones that I always play.
Hitting the ball is easier because the head of the racket is larger compared to the prestige tour 600. But the feeling of the ball is somehow incomplete. And the most interesting thing is that I played for only 30 minutes to it, then returned to the old prestige, and after the match the next day I felt pain in my elbow. The last time I felt pain in my elbow was about 15 years ago. I have a feeling that the i. radical is tougher and the feeling of the ball is much worse than prestige.

Wait till you try an i.Prestige mid!

if I switch from prestige Tour 600 to a racket with a head of 630, should I keep the weight I'm used to, that is, 360 grams, or should I decrease it?

My Personal Opinion

Decrease it to 345-350g. Smaller heads (600) have less twist weight and move through the air easier then bigger heads (630). I would reduce total weight as above but keep same swing weight as your 600 if possible.

I play a 107 @ 310g, 100 @ 325g and a 90 @ 340g all at 318-320 swing weight

Ditto for the Head PT 2.0 - it won't feel exactly like the Prestige Tour 600, but it's probably closer to the classic Prestige feel than other racquets on the market. I haven't tried the Auxetic Prestige Pro, but if @vsbabolat recommended it, I'd give it a shot.

Quite a few people struggles to find a switch from prestiges, usually as we get older, for a less demanding one.

My tf40 315 has been great and its actual head size is 96.6 and kinda blend of modern and classic frame.

My next move is less demanding Prince tour 100p as I'm hitting late 50s.

But for a person who hit 93 sq in frame for 22 years, recent prestige of 98 sq inch would first one to try. I would also second angel 97 ones.
Foam filled frames has that natural solid feel.

thank you all for your advice

Then weigh your new racquet to match your Prestige Tour 600. It will be an easier transition

I weighted down my radical, made it the same weight as my prestige. I started playing with it and I feel that the racket feels heavier than prestige. Reduced the weight by 10 grams, and it became great.

It plays great (radical 630, 1998.), but it feels like control is lower than prestige. it is especially felt when you play slice strokes. it feels like this racket is designed for powerful topspins, exactly how Agassi played.))

It is certainly easier for it to play, due to a larger head, but the control is clearly worse. Perhaps I need to experiment with string tension.

Have you added any weight to the throat or hoop of your prestige tours?

I bought my first prestige in Germany in 1999 and it was about 365 grams right in the store. I weighed all my next prestige in the throat (the middle of the racket) so that they were about 365 grams. All the following prestige raquets were a little lighter than the first one.

it seems to me that recent prestige are stiffer and there is not that feeling of the ball.

With your Radical you can experiment with string and tension. I keep my string tennis and string the same in my Classic Prestige 600, Pro Tour 630, Radical Tour 630, and the latest 2022 Prestige Pro. I don’t find the modern Prestige Pro to be a lot stiffer feeling. I thought it felt great while playing with it yesterday.

I put on the radical the same strings that I play on prestige, with the same tension. Since the head is bigger, it is possible and the strings need to have more tension?.

Reason I asked is because the Prestige Tours have a more HL balance as well as lower swing weight than most head player frames of similar weight. Therefore it might be difficult to get the same combination of feel, weight and balance while retaining a reasonable SW with more HH head player frames. Given that you have matched yours with some extra weight already and upped the SW a bit this might not be an issue.

Also, have you ever hit with the Prestige Tour 660?

What can you say about Head i.Radical MidPlus? Will it be similar or is it completely different?

I tested the i.radical mps alongside my prestiges for about a year since they spec wise are good platform sticks many seemed to like them. They are great frames but very different in feel compared to the prestiges. No matter how i experimented with weighting, balancing, strings etc. I couldn't get used to the noticeably stiffer feel and what I perceived as a harsher response in comparison, especially on off center hits.

recent frames are stiffer and modern hollow feel compared to old frames.
recent prestiges of 98 have 60-61 strung flex. that's on the lowest side among recent frames.
if you want classic solidness in feel. i would say try foam filled like angell frames.
it's difficult to find something plays like old prestige.
if i'm much younger i would be still playing prestige. :-D

360+ Prestige MP, with some lead at the top of handle, and some on the sides of the hoop. Depending on the swing weight of your original Prestiges and the new MPs, possibly some at the tip to get it to the same ballpark.

I don't recall the 600 having a particularly high swing weight, but there's still some heft in the hoop, so you run the risk of ballooning the swing weight on the 360+ MP if you just put it all at the tip.

I think you should try Pro Tour 2.0, IG Prestige MP (or TGT293.2) or Auxetic Prestige Pro. I think i.Prestige MP is in the same league (also as PT57E) – but it is harder to get one.
Dunlop CX200 Tour is also worth a try.

Hello everyone. I've been playing with the Radical Tour 630 (1998 Twin Tube) for 1.5 years now and I have to say that it's a fantastic racket after the Prestige Tour 600. I also bought a Radical Tour 630 (Zebra), recently started playing with it and it is also a very good racket, but it seemed to me that it could be a little stiffer. It seemed to me that the Zebra has a slightly worse ball feeling compared to the 1998 version. Also recently I tried to play with i.Prestige Mid Plus. It's a very strange feeling. I don't have the feeling of the ball that I'm used to. Although the racket itself seems to be playing well. Very powerful. I.Radical `630 was also very stiff, but it was much worse than I.prestige. It seems to me that it is possible if you put softer strings on i.prestige, perhaps the racket will play differently. Also I'll be able to try playing with Head Pro Tour 630 in a couple of days. I've never played with them and I'm looking forward to it. Thus, at the moment, I believe that the best substitute for prestige tour 600 is Radical Tour 630 (1998 version). This racket, in my opinion, plays no worse than prestige, but at the same time has a big head. I will write my feelings about the pro tour a little later.

Hey man, I know it has been some time for you now, but yeah, I've been on a racquet journey myself after playing with my 24-year-old PT600. Let me tell you this, there is nothing like it. Yeah, there are great, great racquets out there, PT57A, PT2.0, Prince 93P and so on, but nothing comes close to this 19mm beam 89" racquet. It just feels so solid, so ONE when hitting the ball. There are certain shots that I can only pull off with this racquet. Nothing drives the ball through the court as much as this racquet. And nothing plays as whippy and wristy at 360g out there. Even the 93P feels clumsy compared to this one.
I love this racquet and am happy they have made the 2.0, which I haven't tried yet, though...

IMO the PC 2.0 is noticeably more maneuverable than the PT280, especially for a “demanding” control racquet. Even then though, I struggle at times with really deep high bouncing balls, when I don’t have as much time to prepare with proper footwork etc. But agree, the feel of this silhouette is unique.

Yeah, exactly. I still remember when I was 15 playing the PT600 and some of my buddies switched to the Pro Tour. I tried it and put it away after three shots. Just felt like a real log.
The PT600 is a whole different beast. To me, the weight and balance and thin beam make it more meaneauverable than almost any other racquet out there with a 98" and bigger head.
