College Tennis Recruiting Services-Any worth the $$

At every large tournament we see college recruiting services trying to suck you in to their program stating they will get you into the best schools, the best tennis programs and get you the most $$.

Through tennisrecruiting.net we do have access the names of the coaches who have looked at my son's profile so we have an idea of whom may be interested.

OK, what is the reality, do any of these services do more than we can do on our own? Does anyone have an experience with these services? Do they do any more than you can do on your own?

Bottom line, those services are a waste of money, in my opinion. If your son has a USTA ranking and has a star rating on tennisrecruiting.net, then coaches can probably get a good idea of how good he is. If not, all you have to do is send the coaches a video of your son and they will be able to get a feel for his level by watching that. Hiring a tennis recruiting service will not make a mediocre play play at a high level Division 1 school, no matter how much money you spend. These service basically just package up everything for you and make it a little bit easier (they edit the videos, write up a "bio", etc.)...but in reality, doing all of those things by yourself isn't that hard to begin with.

And one more thing...these services will BS to the max...I knew of one girl who hired a service to get herself recruited...she wasn't that great of a player but the bio made it sound like she was a nationally ranked competitive player when really she had just played in a few local tournaments.

Check for another thread asking the exact same thing... This section is NOT that old, so you should be able to find it easy.

The conclusion from multiple posters seems to be... NO not worth it.
Stick with the subscription to tennisrecruiting starting in Junior year to see who has been looking, keep grades up, and knock on doors politely and sincerely.

^^ I also want to add some input. I was always put in the year of 2013, but finally I realized the mistake and I changed it, this downgrading my recruit status to a 2 star.... it sucks for me, I guess I will have to have a great 09 to possibly make it to a 4 star.
