Could Thiem be the key to Nadal's winning the FO 2022?

Is a fully healthy Thiem THE player Novak does not want to see at FO? even more than Nadal?

Let's assume Thiem is fully recovered and back to his prime/peak form by the time FO starts. He will either be on the side of the bracket with Nadal or Novak. We already know from the other post that Novak fears anyone with a huge serve +FH, based on the poll results. Thiem has both + he beaten Novak at FO before. Nadal has no problem dealing with Thiem unlike Novak has on clay. Is a fully healthy Thiem THE player Novak does not want to see at FO? even more than Nadal? VOTE!

At this rate, given what's been going on with Thiem since last 14 months or so, he'd not even be a threat for anyone inside top 50, gentleman. Leave aside clay god and clay demon.

Do you have a link to that?
It was a reporter for Blick on TV last week, he said something like, "es scheint unmöglich, sich vorzustellen, aber einige glauben, dass Dominic für den Rest des Jahres nicht professionell Tennis spielen wird." I didn't hear the first part, the consensus was he's not over his mental issues with the game and has lost the motivation to train endlessly. Remember, Blick is a tabloid, not legit media.

This assumption seems ungrounded in reality. He hasn't played consistently for a year and we expect him to peak in the next two months? I doubt it, personally.

A returning Thiem I doubt can do much damage on clay. His game needs time so I have my expectations in check, his real level may return by Us open series

Hoffentlich liegen diese "einige" falsch.
Having been many timew injured myself, I'd say he's scared to death of getting injured again. Let's just hope he comes back, and has no issues

If Thiem or even Wawrinka would be somewhere back at least 80% of their peak they can beat Novak, more so considering that the Serb might be kind of Rusty with lack of match play and his hear somewhere else.. he seems too much into social media lately, split with Vajda, etc

Absolutely he could. But I haven't really paid much attention to his physical condition. Hopefully he comes back built and ripped But yeah if he comes back fresh and motivated and brutal, he can definitely do his beat Djokovic then bend over for Nadal routine.

Most likely Thiem is facing a top 4 seed in the fourth round or quarter. I won't bet against Thiem on clay at FO unless it is against Nadal. Thiem can beat Novak, Med, Sissy, and ZEV on clay at FO if he is back to form.
