"deadest" Solinco poly

I'm trying to figure out which of Solinco's various poly strings would qualify as the "deadest". So, if you KNOW - I'd love to hear from you. If you THINK you know - keep it to yourself. I'm sure after you have more experience, you will be very interesting to listen to. But not now. If you want to talk about how another brand is deader - I don't care. It has to be Solinco. If you want to talk about frames - there's separate forum for that - and I'm sure there are people over there that need to know your opinion on Wilson versus Babolat....

Background - I play college tennis. I'm a UTR 6.5, 6'6" tall and hit a pretty big ball. I am currently using Solinco Hyper-G in 16g. I string it at 58# and it is a bit too live for me. I don't want to go up on tension any more for the sake of my elbow. My school will supply any string I want as long as it's Solinco. See where I'm going with this? I'm wondering if any of Solinco's other poly strings are going to be 'deader' they Hyper-G.

So - does anybody KNOW?

Thanks

According to RSI, Hyper-G 16L is the deadest or stiffest for their test's ref ref tension at 243. In contrast, 4G is over 300 and Solinco has nothing approaching this. One thing you could try is to use Solinco's string and use the highest % you have for pre stretch. Pre stretch will take a lot of the liveliness out of a poly string. I am not talking about 5% pre stretch, but something like 20% pre stretch. HTH.

Everyone‘s definition of ‘deadness’ varies. Only other Solinco contenders over HyperG would be the thicker versions of Tour Bite and Confidential. I personally think Confidential seems the ‘deadest’.

It is quite a trick to play college tennis with a UTR of 6.5. All the best!

Maybe his UTR dropped because he has not played that much due to pandemic. UTR is sorta funny in that your ratings drop if you don't play. There's a thread about this.

Not always.

My UTR rating is based only on USTA league matches and while I haven’t played an official league match since March of 2020, my UTR has gone up by a full point since. I can only assume that the players I beat previously have been playing and increasing their UTR which is helping my rating.

I wonder for UTR doubles ratings, what will happen if my previous partner’s UTR goes down currently based on his recent matches while I haven’t been playing? Will I get more UTR credit for matches we played together as partners in the past?

I always found Hyper G to be extremely powerful for a poly regardless of the data. Tour Bite had more control. Confidential has the most control (least powerful) although I preferred Tour Bite out of all Solinco strings. Get Confidential in the thickest gauge you are comfortable with to get the deadest feeling.
58# is awfully high for a poly but I also noticed when I tried Hyper G I felt like I had to go high to get that control. Tour Bite and Confidential are better in the 40s or low 50s depending on string pattern and frame used. Good luck.

Revolution 16g is pretty dead, almost un-useable to the average player. Have a reel just sitting around
I play with revolution 16gg (1.30mm). I string it low and the benefit is it’s very consistent. It doesn’t change over the life of the string. It starts off dead and stays dead lol.

I have a live arm so it’s good me to keep the ball in the court. I can swing out

Doubt many have tried it, but Outlast was ridiculously stiff and dead. Stringing it on a drop weight was funny because I strung multi in the mains that stretched like crazy, and then Outlast in the crosses which did not move at all when pulling tension

Outlast is dead and low-powered, but the tension falls off a cliff after a set.
Try 16G Confidential at your usual tension. Break it in with a few games before judging it.
I prefer to cross the shaped poly's with a round poly like Yonex PTF to get longer life and consistency of play, but YMMV.
