nadal doesnt win much after the USO anyway, remember at IW after his withdrawal he said "i will be ok for barcelona";)
No, Rafa hasn't played much after the USO since 2012 because of injury. BY bringing Rafa into this discussion, it proves that you have no answer as to why Djokovic retired then announced minutes later that he plans to play Tokyo.

The Serb would not go into details about his injury woes but expressed his hopes of being back in action in Tokyo next month. ‘Evaluation is to come,’ the 16-time Grand Slam champion said. ‘Obviously I did a lot of different treatments and diagnostics and everything in the last couple weeks. I obviously have to do it again and see how the shoulder reacts. ‘You know, to the rest, obviously not playing is going to help speed up recovery. I’m planning to play Tokyo, and hopefully I’ll be able to do so.’

Novak also said "i hope that i am ready" not "i will be ok for barcelona"
What on earth does it matter what Novak said against what Rafa said last year? Rafa didn't pull out of a match he was losing then announced minutes later that he would be OK for Barcelona.

A strange comment by Djokovic. He was clearly injured but given his respect for Stan and the fact Stan has been out for 18 months perhaps Nole should have finished the match even losing 6-0 as if he plans to play Tokyo the injury cant be so bad it risks surgery and sounds more inflammation.

Thats the difference..Rafa pulled out before his match with Roger. Novak was so subdued (i started a thread at the time) he clearly knew he had a problem so perhaps he should have withdrawn before the match

He wants YE no. 1 to surpass Federer in count.

Almost as bizarre as a leader of the VB talking teeing off on the topic of scheduling, withdrawals and retirements.

"for sure isn't the right moment to talk about my injuries, no ?"

o mighty @clayqueen, are you perhaps Elena (Novak's wife) and Novak talked honestly with you after match?
because if not, I will disappoint you, as nobody except Novak doesn't know.
however, many people make assumptions. which might be wrong or true but they remain assumptions.

guys, he also had the problem before R3 match vs Kudla.
Yet he won that match.

He also had the problem during the R2 match vs Londero.
Yet he won that match.

if every pro pulls out before the match, every time something hurts them, there will be little to no tennis to be watched.
Just keep in mind that Novak dominated the tour 18 months with the elbow issue.
Or do you think Nadal or Federer or most other pros have no injuries and no pain?

Rafa finished the match, Novak didn't.

yeah, and this forum is full of salty keyboard warriors, that can barely hold a racket in their hands.
so what?
does it make you feel better if you write bad stuff about someone who managed to get to the pinnacle of this sport?

Not a good look. If this was a serious "injury", he wouldn't be talking like this. And shoulder injurys are no joke for tennis players, as it can completely mess up your game.

He has nothing to fight for other than the year end no. 1, so I guess he'll play himself into the ground for that.

Still, a "sore shoulder" allows him to maintain the aura of invincibility that he can't get beat when healthy, so it's defintely useful.

I really don't understand the outrage here. Tokyo is 4 weeks away, not 4 days. Plenty of time to heal.

All he said was that it's still the plan, not that he's definitely going to play.

try to explain this to some salty keyboard warriors.
a better question would be if these "warriors" ever hold a racket in their hand and tried to compete at least at recreational level. then they might now a little bit about pain and injuries and what it takes to win something

@clayqueen you are really funny.
first you bring Rafael words as comparison to how one shall behave in such situation
then you ask "What on earth does it matter what Novak said against what Rafa said last year"
you can't be serious, are you???:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D
I only brought Rafa in in response to people comparing what he did to what Djoker has done.
