Do You Change Racquet for Singles/Doubles?

I've heard some people say that "I keep that racquet in my bag for doubles." It makes me wonder if that's a common practice. I recently started hitting w/the Maxply...love it for singles...but for doubles so far I've felt slow on quick reaction exchanges. I have a lighter racquet (Volkl Quantum V1) that is very light/maneuverable and I've played good doubles with it in the past...could I conceivably switch between the 2 sticks and not set back my game?

Never mind...I searched for a similar thread AFTER posting this (and found it). My apologies for cluttering the message board.

well...there is no racquet that is considered a singles or double racquet. Some people perfer a certain racquet for singles or doubles. Typically, most people like racquets with better volleys for doubles and maybe better on the ground strokes for singles. Just a thought...maybe people use a racquet with a bigger head for doubles because it has a bigger sweet spot.

It all depends on you on whether to switch racquets or not. I have a single and a doubles racquet mainly because I feel one have more advantages than the other on specific games. For singles, I use a more powerful head light racquet. For doubles, I use a more control head light racquet. But the bad thing about switching racquets is you have to adjust to eachone and it takes an average of around 30 mins to fully get use to it. Is more better to get a racquet that fits both singles and doubles.

I use heavy control racquet for doubles, and lighter more powerful racket for singles.
And the reason is simple : I like that heavy racquet but It wears me down wielding it for 2-3 hours of singles.

I think one should use same racquet for singles and doubles,
it's just that such racquet junkies like me...we have lots of rackets and then are trying to figure out how to make use of them...cauze it's sort of pity they are lying around useless...and we don't want to look silly, because we have so much useless junk...we have to justify the existance of that junk...so we are smartassing...putting forward ...racket for doubles...racket for hard-hitters...racket for pushers....huh-huh-huh

I'm the same way. I just got a big 6-pack bag. Can't fill the whole thing up with Poweraid.;)
