my main curious is how can a guy like marco cecchinato take out novak djokovic AT B05 format
it 's grand slam !!!
marco almost lost at copil at 18 RG first round
but he won and he won over goffin and busta
and reached 18 RG QF
and he beat novak djokovic
that match even not gone fifth set
four set wins from marco
and include two tie breaker won

18 RG djokovic form was better than 18 AO djokovic form
really better form
18 RG djokovic beat least agut and verdasco
and suddnely marco beat djokovic at RG
it 's i think djokovic lost lower impacted player ever
what do you think ?

I don’t think I saw the full match but this was when Novak was struggling to return to top form. It would have been different if he lost to Thiem or Tsitsipas or something. But this guy disappeared, suggesting that it was a one-time thing. Like his losses to Istomin and Chung

Well that match was turning point I feel for djokovic as that loss probably ignited a fire in him to do great again post match conference of that match he seemed in such bad mood that he said he may not play wimbledon and at that point it felt to me djokovic is finished but there you go he reaches final in queens and then comes to wimbledon and wins it.

Still remember Djokovic's reflex backhand volley in the 4th set tiebreak and the crowd going nuts.

Remember it well. I also felt that Djokovic was going to go to the final that year, but of course he ducked Nadal lol ... joke.

On a serious note, his form at this point was really improving , although his run on the grass after it was probably better than anyone predicted.

Although Novak hadn't yet regained top form, I thought Cecchinato played quite well. I also thought Cecch's career would take off, but it never really did.

He had Thiem in his side of the draw, a Thiem who excuted him in 3 sets the previous year at RG. No way was he going to reach the final in the form he was and against Thiem. He was improving, and playing better than during the clay season of 2017, but still needed to recover his confidence and a bit of fitness. I already saw signs of improvements in Rome 2018, where he lost to Nadal but played better than in 2017 and early 2018.

Untestable...but probably so.
On another note, are you surprised that Cecchinato hasn't done more the last 18 months or so.
He did beat PCB and Goffin (forget the order) before taking out Novak at RG18, and he won a clay tourney in Argentina (among his total of 3), but outside of that, not much success.

Perhaps the most-liked post in TTW history was about the Cecchinato match. I think people remember it well.

For a serious answer coming from one who wasn’t a poster at the time, I still remember it pretty well. The fourth set tiebreak was fun to watch.

How can we forget, it was a glorious day. :)
Because only one month later, #TennisWon. And it's been winning quite a lot since then. :)
