Does Nadal really use 1/4 or does he use athletictape under the handle?

I tried the gripsize and it really slips in the hand. How can Nadal use it without slipping in the hands (especially in serve and volleys)? Does he use athletictape under the replacementgrip to make it bigger or does he use 1/4 like the ones in store plus his thin overgrip?

After hitting as many balls as he has, the muscles in your hand mold to whatever size you choose to use. I used as large as 4 5/8 and have gradually gone down to 4 3/8 with a TW thin leather grip. I've actually noticed a difference in my hand muscles.

the skin feel is 1.55mm thin like an overgrip.

That's just what I've read here and I put it out there. (Not that I care what base grip he uses.) I know how thick they are. I use them. And 1.55mm is not quite thin like an overgrip. Overgrips are in the 0.50+/-mm thickness range.

No you're not wrong, I'm just saying if Nadal indeed uses skin feel then he must really prefer a smaller grip (and his hands are not small at all).

But there are thicker overgrips close to .8 to 1.0mm thick, I've used them.:)

Yea Cup8489's right. I've held it before, plus he wears his overgrips out pretty bad, where u can see holes and tears in the Overgrip. or maybe he was too lazy to change it lol

FWIW, L2 on a Babolat is the same as a L3 on a Wilson... I only use 1 overgrip on my babolats but I need 2 on my wilsons for it to not slip.

All of that "use this grip size based on these measurements" is kind of goofy. Use the grip size you find most comfortable, and most facilitating to your game style. Nadal uses a small grip so he can whip the racquet around easier. From the pictures I've seen his hands are actually quite large, and they seem to dwarf the handle. He uses it for his game style...

Also, I've played everything and don't really find Babolat grips to run large at the moment. I use a Babolat number 2 grip, and 3 from anyone else feels too big.

For me, for comfortable usage every person can use 2 grips, because differences are not big IMO. I use 2 and 3. No big deal.

comfort ist important, but it's important that the grip is not too small. generally I would think that a thinner handle allows for better wrist action but it can't be so thin that you push the fingetips into the palm. there should at least be a minimum space.

however if you grip along the handle diagonally a lot you basically have more room for your fingers than if you use a hammer grip. maybe that is why nadal can use a rather thin grip.
