Drop Weight tension trouble...

I use a gamma x2 drop weight stringer for stringing my racquets but i have always noticed that when i string a racquet up the tension is wayyy too low. Im not sure if im tensioning the racquet enough or what but i really hate it when i string my racquet up at 66 pounds and it feels like 50. I have always followed the instructions (mrt stringing guide not the stupid gamma one) i was given as best as i could when i started out so i dont know what to do. Any help is appreciated so please comment on what you think the problem could be.

Is your weight level? By that I mean when you tension the string, is the weight horizontal to the floor? When you set your tension, you should make sure that you line the weight up with your pound selection on the backend of the weight. That's what I can think of right now....

the dropweight should be parrallel to the Table or Floor.

Check youtube for Gamma x-2 theres a guy there using it step by step.

Dropweight is pretty darn accurate. either you mount your Racquet wrong or you have a defect product.

buy a tension calibrator its only $30 worth an investment.

you have to hold the ratchet in place when you are pulling tension, although you are probably already doing that...
otherwise, you need to keep pulling tension until the beam is as close to parallel to the ground/table
trust me, I had the same problem when I first started stringing with my x-2 also

here is one CRUCIAL thing you must know, as I had to figure it out the hard way after 3 stringjobs. As you progess into your stringjob, after you tension the string and let the arm drop to parallel, and you unclamp your previous string, DO NOT RE-ADJUST THE TENSION, AS IT WILL CAUSE the stringbend to have a looser tension.

thanks everyone for your input.

Im pretty sure tennisfreak has found the answer because everything everyone else suggested i already do. And when i unclamp my string i do occasionaly re adjust the tension. so next time i string my racquet i will try not to do that and will let everyone know if it worked or not.

Thanks again,
Joseph

no problem. What I found that after you unclamp, and you find that the arm has gone down slightly, you should leave it that way, because it is at the same tension. If you lift the arm and re-tension, it will not put that one MAIN into the desired tension, but spread it across the entire stringbend, aka innaccurate and loose strings.(this is only regarding after you have 3 or more mains done already)

nice tip here. but on Dropweight u have to hold the weight again to make sure its Parallel to the floor. so basically its not only 1 drop u have to make at least 2 or 3 drop to do that...

Meaning you have to lift the arm more than once.

especially on Gamma x2.
