Examining Our Djoker's History Of Losses At Indian Wells. This Was, By Far, The Most Shocking.

These losses will become a lot more frequent for Djokovic. I feel his grip at the top of tennis is loosening and probably over.

I expect Sinner and Alcaraz to dominate the year with the likes of Zverev, meddy, Tsitsipas, Rune, Ruud, rublev trying to play spoiler.

I put Djokovic in the same category as Zverev and the rest now. Maybe Alcaraz will be between Sinner level and rest depending on surface.

For me Djokovic will just be a contender now but not a no1 favourite to win any tournament. Time is catching up and the other younger guys are getting stronger and don’t fear him as much.

This is true, but Thanovic has already snapped his finger. Anything that happens now is after destiny was fulfilled.

I just want him to stay at 24 lol, as much as some Ultronians won't admit it openly, there's still a war going on here Nadal is too close for them to stop hating 8-B

All other losses came to top players. Even Taro Daniel is the #1 Japanese player.
Luca Nardi was outside ATP 100. A lucky loser Qualifier.

Novak Djokovic’s losses at Indian Wells:
  • 2006: Lost in the Round of 16 to James Blake.
  • 2007: Lost in the Semifinals to Rafael Nadal.
  • 2008: Lost in the Semifinals to Mardy Fish.
  • 2009: Lost in the Semifinals to Rafael Nadal.
  • 2013: Lost in the fourth round to Juan Martin del Potro.
  • 2017: Lost in the second round to Nick Kyrgios.
  • 2018: Lost in the second round to Taro Daniel.
  • 2019: Lost in the third round to Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Didn't Djokovic win in 2008

At this point of his career he is more interested with slams. Besides that, he is 37 and his "engine" starts slowly after months of break. I wouldn't be too worried if I was a Novak fan but this year won't be easy as last year. Sinner will give him a trouble more than 2023 Alcaraz

In '07, he was still a teenager, losing to #2 in the world wasn't too bad. In '17-18, he got an injured elbow. I assume in most of deleted years, he came out as champion.

In '24, he won a 3-setter and lost to a LL. Nobody'll be surprised if this is near the end.

The guy is reminding me of Serena when she ever lost.

Novak: "I was surprised at my level. I played terrible. and on this day he played very well. It was a very poor performance on my side. Yeah no titles so far this year. I'm not used to that. But congrats to him".

Get over yourself. jeezus. Just say he played very well and I was a little off instead of the multiple excuses of not playing in IW for 5 years or not playing on the tour for 5 weeks.

Fair play, but Djokovic is 36 and was trending to have the best longevity of the big three by a longshot, coming off a near calendar slam season. So while I am not shocked, I do find this loss to be very surprising nonetheless. Time comes for them all, but Djokovic looked like he was still able to coast for some time longer.
Yes, I think many people are finding this loss particularly hard to explain. We’ve watched him for years and sadly I think it’s Djokovic’s time. Even though these declines take time, its painful to watch if he’s your player. Not the return to Indian Wells Djokovic was hoping for, but nevertheless a well earned win for Nardi.

As a fan, you always believe they (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer) will eventually pull out the win in these kinds of matches. This was no different and that was part of the reason why this was such a shocking loss. After this loss and the one to Sinner in Melbourne he will be asking himself some hard questions.

He’s the last of the Big 3. It will be sad to see him go but everyone has their time and he is no different. Whether you love him or hate him, he has left his mark of greatness on the sport.

Part of the problem is his less frequent playing. He comes in rusty and can't use the early rounds to break the rust reliably.
