Wife has been given explicit instructions to not dry my tennis clothes and active wear if she needs to transfer my clothes from washer to dryer. We like different detergents and I don't use fabric softener so I wash my own clothes [emoji16]
Uniqlo does need to add the embroidery patch and release the branded t-shirts and warm up jackets.

I found a local person in my area that will add the Uniqlo Logo and the RF or Djokovic's emblem onto any plain tennis shirt or jacket. Very high quality.
Yeah! When it comes to my tennis clothing (or any technical fabric), I void fabric softener and the dryer like the plague. It's crazy how much longer clothes last if they don't go into the dryer

I hope I’m not the only one who considers many of the outfits(besides Wimbledon) to be just the slightest bit bland? It’s literally a solid color, and then the Uniqlo logo.

Most Fed/Nike fans will say when Nike does it it’s called a nice, simple and clean design but if Uniqlo does it it’s called bland and boring.

Well, to be fair, Nike did have a few bland designs. I’m not even going to mention the AO 2020 designs that look like neopolitan ice cream. But compare the Nike Australian open gear from this year to Uniqlo, sure it’s a little simple in a bad way, but it’s still more interesting to look at than just blue.

Do you mean the Nishikori Neapolitan design from last year? That one was pretty bad. But I rather like Fed’s one color polos like Shanghai and the black ones. He had a blue one with a weird collar that I didn’t like. The henleys look much better.

Yes, and if you take a look at the AO clothes for next year, it doesn’t get much better. The tracksuit looks like a disco grandma sweater. Honestly Uniqlo may make better, Nike is setting the bar low.

You are correct. His authentic shorts have a pattern similar to his 2009 nike range. His top is also slightly different than retail.

If only the square was purple, to color fit the outfit, it would've been 100 times better and I'm not joking. Or maybe a square with just a white outline with white printing. I'd try to mock it up later.
Usually the classics from Fed are great outfits because of the great details Nike used to bring up until 2012. Even though after that his outfits became drastically unimaginative they were still good most of the time, and it even produced some great ones. 2015 in its entirely and AO '16 were great.
White shoes with white socks didn't matched this outfit too. If Nike and Fed had a shoe deal, it could've been even a 'Agassi like' design, like that classic V9. Those are just little things that would've made this outfit better.

This started at Wimbledon. Look at the shorts there. His material is similar to his Nike stuff. Clearly the FED prefers his Nike patterns and material and asked Uniqlo to make it for him. Should have just stayed with Nike. Sad!

Purple shorts are weird though. The top is fine, but I wish he'd have gone with white shorts.

You can, but only if you're Roger Federer. There is a different treatment of the Uniqlo logo on some of his custom supplied gear that does not match the retail version.
Agreed, but I don't think it's just an issue of blandness? Some of the outfits are bland, but there have also been attempts at "mixing things up" that have also failed. Witness Uniqlo's obsession with constantly changing / trialling different necklines on the Federer shirts. We have had everything from Baseball Necks, henleys, cutaway collars, piped V neck contrast collars and even a clerical collar for last year's US Open. The "lab coat" style from last year was also a little unusual. Federer looked like a mad scientist in the Smurf blue version.
Player custom. Different from the version Uniqlo retails to the public.
He didn't have a choice to stay with Nike apparel, unless it was for less money. But maybe it was best for him to have left Nike for his clothing sponsor anyway? At the moment, he is enjoying the best of both worlds..... The money from Uniqlo, and the IP / reverse engineered quality of fabrics that he was using when he was with Nike.
He looks silly in most of the match wear now because the design nouse at Uniqlo is just not the same as what's available at a sportswear powerhouse like Nike. But how many of the photos from the Uniqlo era are we going to be looking back at when everything is said and done anyway? The look of Roger's Uniqlo era tennis gear will all be forgotten in time, with the more lasting impact being his work in growing the pervasiveness of the brand.

Well not sure about the money thing being correct. Perhaps up front cash and guaranteed cash. That said RF Nike line has royalties and if the RF Nike line grew into other sports the royalties would pickup - but like you said, at this point, does not matter anymore.South Africa Exo (with Nadal, Gates, and Noah)

i wonder if Roger is still sponsored by Nike when it comes to tennis footwear ( considering he is now an ON investor ) , as they still keep providing him with custom Vapors, first the one in AO that matched is outfit, and then the ones in Africa with the Green outsole.

In the aftermath of Wimbledon 2018 and the outfit switch, he said he will still work with Nike on a shoe deal and recently he said that he would keep playing with his Nike’s until he’s done playing

That makes sense. Roger still seems to be completely reliant on the Nike hardgoods. Theres no way he would risk his body wearing "ON" brand sandshoes during a match. By the same token, he won't want to leave money on the table, so as long as he is still wearing Nike he wants some sort of financial arrangement in place.
For what it's worth, Nike will be happy to look after him imo. They're not crazy enough to overpay him to compete with Uniqlo, but I think they will want to keep the bed warm for him to return after the Uniqlo tenure has ended.
Nike made a fortune out of Roger, and there may be more to squeeze out of him as a legacy athlete.
