i played the red code 17 strung up at 23kg ~ 50 lbs and it played nicely. i'd suggest you start somewhere between 52-55 since you plan to use a thinner gauge. shoulld blend well with the prince - the redcode is a very low powered string though providing good control.

try 40 lbs, or even better yet, 30 lbs (prince rackets are fine too, look at Davy)

30lbs? Who? Davydenko? No chance.

For your first full poly, I would string it exactly how you used to string before. This way you'll be able to really compare how a full poly plays and behaves vs what you had before.

Take off about 2 pounds tension on both cross and main. I've used plenty of all poly and if I was at say 56 for all synthetic than i'll go 54 for all polyester. But I would actually say try 57x55 for full poly. It's what I used on my rad tour and it was sex. Beware of the upcoming elbow troubles. I almost had to drop out of a sectional due to arm pain with my full set-up. I'm currently back to syn gut mains/poly crosses and elbow is refreshed to say the least.

I would recommend somewhere around 58lbs and then from there gauge how it feels. More control string it tighter but only to the pt where ur arm can still handle it.

Whhaaat? What crazy advice. If you value your elbow DON'T string poly at your usual tension (y'll hate it anyway).

It would be an expensive waste as well because you would be cutting them out pretty quickly.

The standard advice is to drop tension 2-3% AT LEAST on waht you currently string at.

I remember putting full ALU in my LM Rad MP at pretty close to my usual tension (58 ) and it was a board that hurt my arm and I copuldn't play with. Expensive mistake.

Well that would normally depend on either how good one's technique is or how much your arm can handle. If we're talking full ALU, i use it a lot at my norm tension (60lbs), and its perfectly fine until awhile after it dies, but even then, it wasn't that big of a bother.

It not only depends on one's techniques and about the arm, but also what strings he was playing with before and what strings he'll be playing with now.
I usually play with full poly on my racquet, but when I try full multi or hybrid, I string at exactly same tension, and there is never any issue. Some people say drop a few pounds, some say 5 pounds, many different views. You have to note also that some polys lose a lot more tension than others, so if you already strung it loser, once the poly settles you'll end up with a really lose string.

I disagree - if he's used to a soft multi like Xcel and PSGD, then for his first poly job he surely should start at least 6 lbs lower in tension and see if he likes that........

My advice would be to start very low and then slowly up the tension by 5 lbs to find your preferred tension level for full poly......

Start out with 40 lbs for your first poly job.
Then up it by 5 lbs until you find your preferred level.
It will take a couple of sets of string to find your favorite tension level, but it's worth it.....trust me on this :D

Agree with the 40#.

It's a brand new world. Read the string topic regarding how low can you go. I'm enjoying Luxilon Big Banger Rough at 40#.

Important to take care of your body so tennis can be a life long sport. Anything that hurts is not worth playing with.
