30lbs? Who? Davydenko? No chance.
For your first full poly, I would string it exactly how you used to string before. This way you'll be able to really compare how a full poly plays and behaves vs what you had before.
I disagree - if he's used to a soft multi like Xcel and PSGD, then for his first poly job he surely should start at least 6 lbs lower in tension and see if he likes that........
My advice would be to start very low and then slowly up the tension by 5 lbs to find your preferred tension level for full poly......
Start out with 40 lbs for your first poly job.
Then up it by 5 lbs until you find your preferred level.
It will take a couple of sets of string to find your favorite tension level, but it's worth it.....trust me on this
