Your weight should actually be on your front foot when you toss. If you have it on your back foot you will have to make sure you toss more out in front because your body will end up moving forward. It is harder to control the toss placement with your wieght on your back foot.

If you dont toss the ball more out in front your head could actually end up under the ball or near that.

You can toss the ball with the wieght on your front foot, and slide the back foot up when your ready to go hit the ball. This will allow you to do a proper hip stretch and use your entire side of your body like a pole vaulters pole.

when the ball is more in front of your body plane when your ready to hit the ball, you will have more power.

That post reminded me of sumthing BB. Is it really a benefit to sliding the back foot up to the front foot before serving? I mean like during the toss and such.
