Hi, I been having alot of trouble of hitting my forehand infront of my body. Do you guys know any special drills that can help me work on hitting it infront. My backhand timing is always in front but for some reason my forehand is always late. Any advice will help thank you.

First, what grip?
W, just in front of opposite shoulder.
SW, close to, but can be at the front shoulder.
E, usually closer to middle of front shoulder
Conti, usually front collarbone.
Above with closed stances.
Openstanced, first two, well, in front of chest......
Just hold racket forehand grip, see where the rackethead gets level with hitting zone, and check with your location to your body.

I like to execute my unit turn and "set" my racket early. This makes executing the rest of the loop easier to time. If I'm near the baseline, I'll "set" the racket (with my opposite hand on the throat) before the ball bounces or before the ball passes the back service line -- whichever occurs first.

Try the following drill. Have someone toss ball from behind you so that you will need to move forward a little. First, execute your unit turn (so that you can see the toss). Then have your partner, toss the ball so that you are forced to make contact out "in front". Once you've mastered this, have your partner give you some easy tosses from in front of you. If you are still making contact out in front, have you partner increase the difficulty/speed of the feed.

You can tax the good will of a hitting partner if you're inconsistant with a stroke. Try hitting against the backboard, concentrating only on forehands, to acquire the eye/brain/body/arm pattern that you will have to becaome engrained. (When working on a new stroke, its better to let the ball bounce twice, and really concentrate on form , than just banging the the wrong way.) A ball machine may be the next step, if one is available, as this will better allow you to gauge depth and direction.

Which grip do you use? For example, western and sw give your body the tendency to hit more out in front. It's just natural movement.

Also to help you hit more in front (or any desirable zone), force and fix your sight on the spot where you want to make contact with the ball. You still track the ball as it comes to you, then stop your sight at the ideal contact point/zone -- the eyes, mind, body will pick up the cue and hit the ball at that instance. Not only will this help but it will increase the quality of contact dramatically, ie much less framing.

Work very well for me.
