Acknowledges the Tour's consensus that clay is a drag of a surface.

"If you look at the top 100 players in the world, I would say like 70 or 75 of them prefer probably to play on hard court,” he explained.

Casper Ruud is willing to do whatever it takes.

The nutty thing is that its "season" is so long to begin with.

Shame they had to f up the remainder of the calendar by making the preferred hard court surfaces as clay-like as possible.
Is the court not speeding up in recent years

Former world no. 2, Casper Ruud, believes that a clay-hater may tear up clay this year.

Do the Norwegian's views carry weight? He is a tremendous champion of this era.

It does. I am silent but I believe in Medvedev. It will happen in some season why not 2023.

Med has been quietly making his move for the past 5 years. No one has been paying close attention to Meddy because we have weird situation where the consensus best player in the world under the age of 30 is not the best player in the world.

I'm honestly thinking the play is just for turnover at this point.

Phase out fans with perspective drawn from Ye Olde Tyme of GOATery, and angle for some sweet, sweet ignorance! :D

The pity is that such a niche surface gobbles up such a sizable chunk of the season.

Most folks don't care for it. But they have no choice in the matter!
And the fact that Djokovic is weakest on clay but gets not one but 2 HC slams out of the situation has no bearing on your view of course

Ive never even seen a clay court in person LOL. Its all hards. Its probably why it gobbles up a good chunk of the season How many people outside of Spain grew up playing on dirt?

Not sure what Djokovic has to do with it.

The clay season is a blight regardless of what he does.

I don’t agree. There is too much hard court tennis for my liking as it is.
Well, I'm not sure that Jan-Lennard Struff is really into clay especially.

But the 33-year-old is into eliminating former world no. 2's from contention on it.
