Full bed poly mains 'shaving/splitting' not notching

Hi guys.

During the recent warm weather I've noticed some of my poly mains shaving, almost splitting, instead of notching and then breaking.

Always happens with the same string.

Have you ever experienced anything like this?

It's a low end poly not stocked by TW.

It can happen, from low end/Taiwan made strings

Seems pretty clear it's cheap, low quality string.

It was Pro's Pro Cyber Power 1.25 (Black).

Never had the problem before.

I second @uk_skippy on this. Solinco and Head Lynx Tour have been doing that to my students lately. One customer uses some cheap knockoff poly from Taiwan and it does the same. I’ve seen it with Diadem too.

I almost always play Luxilon and they never do that. Babolat either. It’ll thin out when it breaks after notching but won’t shave half the string away in the middle of its life.

Prince used to make a triangle shaped string (tour xs maybe?) that would shave/split. On the cross string nonetheless (I used a full bed). It was the only string I’ve ever experienced that with.

It was Pro's Pro Cyber Power 1.25 (Black).

Not a big surprise with that brand IMHO.

-ive seen it before with many worn out POLY strings
-if you cant break the poly, it will stretch and stretch until it cant stretch no more!
-last phase of the poly string life! IMO/IME
