Gasquet just raised his voice to a ballboy.

The arrogance of this guy. Why can't these overprivileged divas just handle their own towels, rather than having to get impatient when an innocent ballboy mistakes the player's gesture and throws them a tennis ball rather than their tower? They are BALLboys after all. Who wants to touch that greasy cokehead's disgusting sweaty towel anyways? The poor kid risks getting a horrible rash or even worse contracting Richard's hep B.

All respect lost for Richard! I hope Roger trounces him! Good riddance diva!

Some of those ball boys are like ball men. Of course it sounds like he yelled at one of the kids.

Well, He shouldn't yell at them, but Gasquet looks pretty uncomfortable. I'm getting a little tired of McEnroe ragging on him. Cmon man, give em a break.

I would appreciate very much a link to some video of this incident OP.

Those players are under tremendous pressure and they (most of them) cannot control the emotions all the time, especially when they get frustrated because of result. I'm sure that they regret after the match.

Let’s not be naive. Many USO ballboys who work their way onto center court know more about opiate derivatives and pubic lice treatment options than an average Serbian WTA player.

I actually got annoyed about it - and also the way he just drops balls in all directions for them to catch. It's like he likes them to slave. He uses more time than Rafa on serve, I almost develop AD/HD from watching him spinning around in circles.

The towelling business has got a bit out of hand really.

It really annoys me when certain players will just stand near the centre of the baseline and just demand the towel is brought to them by way of a hand gesture and not even showing the courtesy to verbally ask for it.....not even an attempt to walk towards the towel, but then when they've used it, they just turn their back and throw it behind them, expecting the ballkid to chase after them and catch it. That's just arrogance.

What I'm not sure about, is whether both providing the balls and delivering the towel is actually part of the ballkid's remit now. I suppose if it's part of their job there now, then that's just something they have to do, but if it's not then I think it is a privilege that the players are abusing.

As for the shouting, I think having outbursts of emotion or anger in high pressure situations is just something that happens to a lot of people, but immediately someone has done that (often to a completely innocent party) they do immediately regret it, so I hope Gasquet does too and suitably apologies and showers the ballkid with gifts.

These ballkids at all tournaments do such a good job and are the unsung heroes in terms of keeping a game flowing. I think it would be a nice gesture at the end of each match, if all the ballkids were to line up on the way to the players exit and both players shake each one's hand and thank them.

^^ What about the janitors and the people who clean the changing room facilities what should the players do for them too?

Thank them too.

I'm sure a lot of the players do thank these people, we just don't hear about it. We'll only hear about the negatives because it makes for better headlines.

MOST pros are over privileged prima donnas. (a curse of the country club set)

Just look at how they put as little effort as possible into each shot as will win the match.

Old Seppi couldn't be bothered to lower his stance and look like he's gonna hit something,
instead looking more like he's standing at a bar ordering a drink. (in loss to Djokovic)

VERY few pros actually get down and dirty, when push comes to shove.

I am all for having the players call their own lines (with 3 challenges still) and get their own balls/towels....would make for some interesting viewing

LOL. I have a great idea. How about we take it further and eliminate the champions/runner up presentation and instead replace it with a trophy presentation for the janitors and the ballkids? Blah. The way tennis is, players sometimes are completely lost in their world. I have yet to see a player that is courteous to the ball kids on every single occasion. If you don't want to pick up and catch towels from players, you shouldn't be a ballkid. No one is holding a gun to the kid or person (some of them are old as dirt at the USO) to do the job.

This crap comes up a lot on this forum. You see this in every sport. The elite players/teams have random guys hired to bus crap to the athletes. At the start of a basketball game, all the players are shooting around in their sweatsuits. The moment they are warmed up, they tear of the sweat suit and fling it on the floor at which time some dude quickly picks them up. The athletes are the reason that sporting events make money in the end.

No saw that as well. Pretty rude from Gasquet.

Nadal does this a lot as well

"Mitä helvettiä?"

I wasn't aware of Nadal doing it let alone him doing it "a lot" so to find out whether you were just being sarcastic or a trolling fanboi I googled "Rafael Nadal yells at ball boy" and here's what I came up with:

- 4 Results of "Novak Djokovic apologizing for yelling at ball kid" :

- 1 Result of "Rafael Nadal Can't Help But Laugh As Ballboy Rushes To Realign His Water Bottles."

Rafael Nadal Can't Help But Laugh As Ballboy Rushes To Realign His Water Bottles

Rafael Nadal is famously superstitious about his water bottles.
The Spanish superstar needs the labels on his water bottles facing out while he plays, and he has sometimes gone to great lengths to make sure his drinks are facing the right direction.
In 2009, Nadal stopped a celebration after a clutch point to pick up and reposition his water bottles:

Opponents have even tried to mess with Nadal by knocking the bottles over. Unfortunately for Marinko Matosevic, who attempted this ploy in 2013, Nadal simply laughed it off.
Nadal's obsession with water bottles provided another good laugh for tennis fans at this year's Australian Open. Toward the end of Nadal's fourth-round match against Kevin Anderson, the wind blew over one of his water bottles. The event led to a stoppage in play and the chair umpire had one of the ballboys run over and fix the bottle. Nadal was apparently unaware of what had happened but couldn't help but smile once he realized it. Asked after the match about the incident, Nadal claimed he hadn't requested the ballboy's action.
Nadal didn't seem troubled by the water bottle, as he disposed of Anderson in straight sets.

So I guess you were not being sarcastic.

Look, if it were true then Nadal would've deserved to get hammered for it. But when you're putting out nothing more than fanboi 'hevonpaska' then your 'cred' flies out the window. I would think you're better than that.
