GOAT thread - nah it's an Humbert thread.

All posts this week will most certainly devolve into Djokofans and Djokohaters coming together to bash anything they can.

But until then, can I get any input on what y'all think of Humbert's forehand?

What I like: He doesn't seem to extend his arm or further rotate anything after the initial takeback rotation/extension. He seems to only hit from as far back as he first takes it and that's it. Also he doesn't seem to have a massive loopy racquet head from pointing to the sky to handle to the sky. He seems to sort of drop it slowly. He really doesn't appear to do all that much on the takeback at all to generate power. It's his commitment to whipping forward with a loose wrist, relaxed grip, big follow through that helps him hit hard from what I can see.

This seems like such an easy forehand in terms of consistency. It may lack power for some less strong players (Humbert is no muscle man though) but it should make up for it with increased timing capability (not swinging from as far back or as loopy with the racquet)

I'll admit though I'm not the best at analyzing these things.

Can anyone break his strokes down for me a little more? What grip is he using, is he doing more with his core than is possible for a rec hack like me? It just seems like something I'd like to model myself after.

Right now my forehand is somewhere between a Sofia Kenin and Daniel Tiger swing.
