This was an incredible ride from start to finish, you get to see the monster fights in all their spectacle without cutting away to human characters for prolonged periods.
The fights are both at night and in broad daylight, the third act is one of the greatest sequences you will see, Godzilla v Kong take each other on in Hong Kong, it hardly cuts away from the fight, and these two take massive shots at each other. Kong is armed with a powerful axe that his ancestors used to fight the Godzilla species in the past, this axe is made from the dorsal plate of a previous Godzilla and can absord Godzilla's incredible atomic breath.
The two have a fight previously in the ocean, but the one in HK is the big main event between them, and it is brutal! It looks like Kong has finished Godzilla off, only for Godzilla to turn into a savage where that damages Kong so much, he basically stops his heart, Godzilla wins the fight, but Kong refuses to bow to him, even in defeat, Godzilla nods in respect and leaves him. This is where the real villian Mechagodzilla, who has been designed to kill Godzilla makes his appearance, and his hammers the tired Godzilla. I have never seen Godzilla get 'manhandled' like this before, Mechagodzilla is insanely powerful, Kong gets revived and understands Godzilla is not the enemy, he then helps Godzilla fight Mechagodzilla.
The team up is epic, but this is where Kong now shines, he uses the charged up axe by Godzilla and cuts Mechagodzilla in brutally epic fashion, ripping his head out and holding up high as he roars in victory. The two basically have a moment of respect for each other, Kong drops the axe, Godzilla roars in respect and heads off to the ocean.
Said by many, Godzilla wins the battle, but Kong wins the movie. He is basically the hero of the movie, you see how he goes onto become King Kong when he returns to the Hollow Earth. The Hallow Earth is really beautiful, Kong has his hands full there also, battles other Kaiju there called Warbats. A very colorful and vibrant movie, the fights in the daylight are spectacular and they serious hold nothing back, these two absolutely beat the hell out of each other, however Godzilla's insane durability edges it in the end.
No burning Godzilla, no Mothra, no Rodan. No end credits, this movie is bascially the final chapter in the monsterverse and it truly is the best one of the bunch. Now having checked box office records internationally, the movie is a massive success, and it is yet to come out in the States and across Europe fully. Little annoyed with some triggered Synderverse morons who are downvoting the movie on IMDB just to get back at Warner Bros about them not wanting to make Justice League 2. Film is not even made by Warner Bros, they are only distributing it, and I like both properties, this though is not the way to get the point across. Oh well, I digress. Greatest Kaiju movie I have seen, seems like a theme park ride at times and worth the watch if you're into big monsters fighting.
