I was in Rotterdam during the weekend and saw him wearing clothes from Alpha Tauri (that's the clothing brand of Red Bull) for some practices but pretty sure he just bought them because during the match he was indeed still wearing unbranded shirt and shorts.

Yeah, that's not that unusual. Federer ist still wearing Nike's, Murray was still wearing Adidas shoes after changing their clothing sponsors. But I have no idea if in Ernie's case Adidas still provides them or if he has to buy them.

What's his ranking? I thought just about every pro in the Top 100 has a sponsor.
Even if he has dropped, his forehand is unique and he should have a sponsor just based on his win over Federer.

84 (and climbing). Yeah, it's unusual for a player in the top 100 (let alone a fomer top 10 player) to be without a sponsor for an extended period of time. There's Mannarino, Davydenko in the past, can't think of any others from the top of my head.

I'm sure if he looked for one he would find one but I'm not sure if he'll get one without putting in some effort. He's not very marketable (because he doesn't want to be).

There are no billionaires in Latvia, let alone multi billionaires. And his father doesn't appear on any "Top Ten richest men in Latvia" list. His family is wealthy but not THAT wealthy. Only child??? LOL. He has 4 half-siblings in total (two sisters and a brother from the same wealthy father). So... you're wrong on all accounts.
